Dates, Locations Set for Records Review

Dates for the annual review of Session records (minutes and membership rolls) have been set by the Overtures and Records Work Group of the Leadership Team.  As in previous years, locations have been arranged around the Presbytery to make it as easy as possible for Clerks of Session and Moderators to attend.

The records review gatherings are planned for Thursdays (both afternoons and evenings) in October and November. A complete packet of information, including a cover letter, records review checklist, and copy of the updated 2012 Manual for Clerks of Session has been sent electronically to all Clerks and Moderators on August 16. Presbytery meeting - October 13

The members of the Leadership Team met on October 3 and are excited about plans for the October 13 presbytery meeting at Pebble Hill Presbyterian Church.

Here is an outline for our gathering:

9:30     Registration

10:00   Worship with musicians from CNY Jazz

10:45    Living into Our New Structure

 - A presentation on the new structure and how the presbytery is functioning

- An interactive time with opportunities to ask questions, give ideas and offer your energy and gifts

12:00   Lunch

1:00     Business meeting

2:00     Adjourn

Some of you may be wondering why you have not received a packet of information 10 days before the meeting.  Our new by-laws do not regulate this aspect of our life together.  In keeping with our new structure, there will be very few items for action at this meeting.  However, there is much good information to share.  The Leadership Team is working diligently to put together a concise packet for the presbytery meeting and will be sending out a link to to access information a few days before the meeting.

Presbytery invited to dinner to meet visitors from Korea

The Korean Partnership Mission and Ministry Team of our presbytery will host three leaders from Pyongyang Presbytery (South Korea) October 11-15. Rev. Gi-Yong Choi, Moderator; Rev. Yoon-Soo Lee, Past-Moderator; and Rev. Woo-Cheol Kim, a member of the Pyongyang Presbytery Ecumenical Relations Committee, will be introduced to members of Cayuga-Syracuse at the Presbytery meeting at Pebble Hill PC on Saturday, October 13.
On Sunday morning, October 14, Rev. Gi-Yong Choi will be guest preacher at Pebble Hill.  In April 2012, Rev. Janet Newman, then moderator of Cayuga-Syracuse, preached in Rev. Choi's church and presented him with a commemorative plaque during Pyongyang Presbytery's Centennial Celebration assembly.
Presbytery members and friends are invited to meet and visit with Rev.'s Choi, Lee and Kim during dinner at Pebble Hill PC on Sunday evening beginning at 6:00pm. Dinner will be catered by David Forrest. Cost is $12/person. To make a reservation, contact Donna Chapman at or 447-9196 by Tuesday, October 9.
