Greetings! | |
Both TESD middle schools are hosting an assembly this Friday, Dec 16 and parents are invited. Co-sponsored by the schools' PTOs and Student Council groups, they will each hold an assembly for 7th and 8th graders entitled, Cyber Smarts. The speaker is Katie Koestner, Campus Outreach.
 | |
A quote from one of our December Webinars: "Being good at technology and being good at social networking are two VERY different things."
|
"Cyber-Smarts" is a fun, informative program on everything students need to know about the downside of cutting-edge technologies. The audience will be led through a live tour of popular sites - pointing out the risks for children and teens. This is worth your time. Although the presentation has been prepared for 7/8 grade students, adults will glean valuable information as well.
Event info: Fri, Dec 16, 2011. 10:30-11:15am @TEMS. 12:30-1:15pm @ VFMS.
Along these same lines, the Tredyffrin/Easttown School District has a Digital Citizenship Curriculum being presented in the classrooms. link

Adolescent Brain - afterwards
|

The November 3rd ARCH event on the Adolescent Brain was standing room only. Link here to read a summary of the feedback from that event.
ARCH is planning a follow-up event for spring 2012. The presenter will discuss the effects of alcohol and other drugs on the developing (adolescent) brain.
ARCH loves a good parenting book... scroll down for some suggested reading on this topic!

Race to Nowhere - afterwards
|

ARCH was pleased to be host a screening of Race to Nowhere last month. The movie was SOLD OUT in advance. ARCH welcomed over 100 people to watch this provocative movie. Afterwards there was time for audience reaction, reflection and sharing of personal experiences. It was community exchange at its best.
Several Race to Nowhere screenings were held in our area over the last year. It is our understanding that this phase of distribution is over. Please consult the Race to Nowhere website for information about the future of this effort.
