Grads 2012Time to celebrate! More than 650 people gathered at the Kohl Center for a post-commencement reception to honor the 501 CALS seniors who earned their diplomas, along with CALS students receiving their graduate degrees. It was a fine celebration--see for yourself on our Facebook page.

Fun and Learning at Ag Research Stations   

Marshfield
Learn and have fun with experts at CALS' Agricultural Research Stations around the state. A wide array of events are planned all summer. Examples: "Batty about Bats," Garden Day Open House with Master Gardeners, and Beef Field Day.

It's an especially important year for the Marshfield Agricultural Research Station (see photo), which celebrates its centennial on August 16.

Join Us at Farm Tech Days in Outagamie, July 17-19
Farm Tech 2012Join CALS alumni and friends at Farm Technology Days, July 17-19, in Outagamie County (host farms: Sugar Creek and Heideman Farms, New London).

 

* CALS will host two receptions daily at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. in "tent city"---look for the Wisconsin Alumni Tent.

 

* The Wisconsin Agricultural and Life Sciences Alumni Association (WALSAA) will hold a picnic on Wednesday, July 18, 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Fox Valley Technical College in Appleton. Brats, burgers, salads, soda, beer, milk and dessert will be served. No reservations necessary, friends and family welcome. Tickets may be purchased upon entry. Alumni College in Bayfield
Learn about "Sustaining Wisconsin's Northern Woods and Waters"--and enjoy them at the same time--at a  WAA Alumni College in Bayfield June 21-25, featuring CALS plant pathology professor and department chair Caitilyn Allen and botany professor Don Waller.

The five-day adventure offers a chance to see one of Wisconsin's most beautiful regions as more than just a vacation spot. Participants will get an in-depth look at the area's rich history and culture and discover what makes the region so ecologically diverse--as well as what initiatives are in place to keep it that way.

Mark Your Calendars: CALS at State Fair August 8

UW State FairLook for science exploration stations, tasty Wisconsin food displays and demonstrations, music from the UW Marching Band and more as CALS takes part in UW-Madison Day at the Wisconsin State Fair (Central Mall) on Wednesday, August 8. CALS also will participate in a UW-Madison school supply collection drive--don't forget to donate! More info here.
