155mm Soft Recoil Howitzer Program has Commenced

155mm

The 155mm Soft Recoil Howitzer Program officially started late 2011 continuing the momentum and success of the Hawkeye 105mm Weapon System. Currently, Mandus Group engineers are designing a top carriage and recoil system that will be able to accept both 39 and 52 caliber tubes. Due to the lightweight and low forces associated with the soft recoil system, the 155mm howitzer is being designed to be mounted on a 5-ton truck and other vehicles of similar size and weight. There has also been concurrent design reviews focused on the bottom carriage and trail leg configurations for a towed version of the howitzer. The first phase of the design process is expected to be completed by mid June.

The Hawkeye 105mm Weapon/Vehicle System Begins the Next Phase of Testing

Hawkeye_Flagpole

Mandus Group engineers have brought the Hawkeye out of the prototype phase and are beginning the next level of testing. The firing process is now automated via touchscreen in conjunction with a digital fire control system. The traversing and elevation motors have been upgraded to increase elevation speed and create a more stable tube. In case of a misfire a backup hydraulic motor has been integrated that is capable of bringing the cannon back to the latch position and recharging the recoil system in less than two minutes.

The tactical transport vehicle from Mack Defense has also made several improvements. Mack has integrated an ammunition rack that can hold up to 24 rounds. Ergonomics have also improved with a step system and handrails that provide quick and safe access to the newly lowered firing platform.

These upgrades will all be on display at DEFEXPO 2012, March 29th through April 1st 2012 in New Delhi, India. If you would like to arrange a meeting with Mandus Group at DEFEXPO, please contact us at 309-786-1507.

TACOM has Contracted Mandus Group to Manufacture KJ1000 Nitrogen Intensifiers

KJ1000

On December 6, 2011 TACOM awarded Mandus Group a contract to provide KJ1000s to be delivered early April, 2012. The contract is valued at $200,000 and specifies delivery of 25 units with an option for an additional 25.

The KJ1000 was developed to pressurize (intensify) under pressured bottled nitrogen by boosting the pressure to a level suitable for equipment that require high pressured nitrogen. It is capable of boosting nitrogen at pressures as low as 150 PSI to a max of 2500 PSI. This system provides for the efficient utilization of under pressurized bottles that still have useful nitrogen remaining thus reducing logistical problems and lowering costs.
