WFD President to Keynote the 2012 NAD Conference
The NAD is pleased to announce that Colin Allen, president of the World Federation of the Deaf (WFD) will be the keynote speaker during the Opening Ceremonies of the 51st Biennial NAD Conference, on Tuesday evening, July 3, 2012 in Louisville, KY. WFD President Allen was elected by delegates to the WFD General Assembly just prior to the World Congress of the WFD held July 2011 in Durban, South Africa. Mr. Allen, who is from Australia, has worked extensively over the years with the WFD both as a board member and a project coordinator.

Call for Candidates / Election Policies & Procedures
Want to serve on the NAD Board of Directors? The 2012 NAD Elections Committee is now seeking qualified candidates for Board service. Elections will be held on July 6, 2012, during the 51st Biennial Conference in Louisville, Kentucky.

Hyatt and Marriott Hotels SOLD OUT - New Hotel Blocks Available
Due to unprecedented demand, the NAD Conference sold out all of its space at the Louisville Regency Hyatt hotel and then its overflow rooms at the Louisville Marriott next door. This represents double the number of rooms that were occupied at the 2010 NAD Conference in Philadelphia, PA!

NAD to Offer Certified Deaf Interpreter Training
The NAD is pleased to offer a Certified Deaf Interpreter (CDI) training workshop during the 2012 NAD Conference in Louisville, Kentucky on Thursday, July 5 & Friday, July 6 from 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. The workshop, led by Jimmy Beldon, will explore the Roles, Functions and Ethics of Deaf Interpreting at the Kentucky International Convention Center (KICC).

2012 Conference Children's Camp for ages 3-17!
Great news! For the first time, NAD is providing activities, entertainment and field trips for children aged 5 to 17 (and also 3- to 4-year-olds, given they are accompanied by at least one parent/guardian) during the Conference week. The program will be held from July 4-6 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The program will take place on site at the Hyatt Regency Louisville Hotel. Activities will include icebreakers, crafts and games. Scheduled entertainers are cartoonist Matt Daigle, dance professional Wawa Snipes, puppeteer Tammy Ellis, juggler Pinky Aiello, ASL storyteller Peter Cook, comedians Anderson Twins and magician Matt "Magic" Morgan. Trips to the Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory and The Louisville Science Center will take place on Thursday and Friday afternoon, respectively.

Call for Priority Proposal Deadline: Tuesday, March 15
The NAD Board of Directors welcomes submissions from individual members and organizational affiliates for proposed priorities for the next two years (2012-2014). These tend to be issues-oriented in nature, with focus on advocacy issues of importance that can be accomplished within a two-year timeframe. Proposed priorities will be presented to and voted upon by individual and affiliate members (General Forum); the top 30 proposals will then be narrowed down to the top 20 priorities for 2012-2014 by vote of official delegates (Council of Representatives) at the 51st Biennial NAD Conference. These then go to the NAD Board of Directors for follow up action during 2012-2014.
