About National Voter Registration Day

In 2008, 6 million Americans didn't vote because they missed a registration deadline or didn't know how to register.  In 2012, we want to make sure no one is left out.  On September 25, 2012, volunteers, celebrities, and organizations from all over the country will "hit the streets" for National Voter Registration Day. This single day of coordinated field, technology, and media efforts will create pervasive awareness of voter registration opportunities -- allowing us to reach tens of thousands of voters or more who we could not reach otherwise.  For a full list of all events, go to www.nationalvoterregistrationday.org.

Cal State L.A. Event for National Voter Registration Day

As part of its "Engage and Build Your Political Power" initiative, Cal State University, Los Angeles, will be hosting a Voter Registration and "Get Out the Vote" event featuring live music from CHICANO BATMAN and SEASONS.  The afternoon will also include visits from dignitaries including California Secretary of State Debra Bowen, Assemblyman Mike Feuer, State Senator Alex Padilla, guest celebrities, and a flow of local artists and deejays.

Organizations such as the L.A. County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk's office, California Common Cause, the California Participation Project, the League of Women Voters, NALEO, Voto Latino, AltaMed Health Services, and the AARP will all be on hand to register voters and to pass out voter education material.

To vote or not to vote? What's the practical im
pact of voting rules? What's been done to engage voters who've historically been hard to reach, and how effective have those efforts been? What is the 'real deal' with younger voters, typically considered least likely to cast ballots? Join the Pat Brown Institute of CSULA and host KPCC for a lively discussion about voting and our future.

Admission is FREE, but RSVPs are required.  Click here to RSVP.
