B100...right at home
Many of you already know that we have nearly 420 members in the triangle area and beyond that drive around on our fuel. (Thank you!) What you may not know is that we also have several private tanks in the area that we have built and keep full for anyone from small businesses to family fleets.
Just this week, Lyle made a fill at the new tank over at Cornucopia Cheese. They have a 250 gallon tank on site.
Sean Mosher and the guys over at QuickMovesNC use our B100 to fuel their moving trucks. The folks at Leading Green Distribution are also part of the B100 community making weekly stops to the Pittsboro tank. We also have farmers like Goat Lady Dairy that keep our bio on hand at the farm to power their equipment, bringing you some of the tastiest cheese around.
And then we have folks like Mr. Doty and Mr. Breckenridge ho each just like to have it around for their family fleets. No matter what your reason, if you want a more convenient way to fill up, we can do it.
Interested in having your own tank?

We just want to say...
Piedmont Biofuels is, no doubt, a one of a kind organization. Yes, locally sourced biodiesel is a good thing. The fact that we make it here and distribute it locally is also great. What makes us special, however, is well...YOU. This cooperative consists of people from all walks of life that share a common goal; each person doing whatever they can to live in a way that does not infringe on the well-being of others and the planet....and doing it in a way that makes sense. You are a special group of people that are incredibly enthusiastic and supportive. We appreciate that.
A great example of this is the Ribbon Cutting last month. We would like to thank everyone who came out to support us at the Enzymatic Biodiesel Ribbon Cutting Celebration. Many, many thanks to those of you who volunteered your time to help make the party a great success! From setting up chairs and tables to tending bar, we could not have done it without everyone's help. Despite the storms and lack of amplified music, over 250 people were there to share in celebrating.
Thank you to Angelina's Kitchen and all of the Slow Money recipients for keeping our bellies full, our cheeks rosy and our hearts warm. (Or maybe we should thank Carolina Brewery for that?) All in all, it was an incredible event. Thank you!
Fueled with gratitude,
Piedmont Staff

How efficient are we?
Exploring our Life Cycle Analysis
Piedmont has long been a pioneer in evaluating the energy balance of our fuel. In 2005 Scott Hoover published an assessment of our Coop facility. In 2009 a group of NC State students performed a study based on our 2008 data--known around the plant as "The Year of Chicken," in which we were running poultry fat as a feedstock.
Now, thanks to Jesse Daystar and the folks at Triangle Lifecycle Assessment, we have an analysis of our 2011 data. We think it is the coolest report ever, and we've invited Jesse and his people down to share it with us live on Friday, September 7th at 6:00 at the Plant.
We think this will be an informal presentation which will be attended by our fuel makers and staff, by some interested drivers from the membership, and possibly some energy geeks from area universities.
If you ever wondered about how many fossil BTUs go into making a gallon of fuel, versus how many renewable BTUS come out of the transaction, this is the presentation for you.
Everyone is welcome. Join us.
We will furnish the post presentation beer...
