Our new Biodiesel fueling location in Saxapahaw is open!

On Friday, January 28th, Piedmont Biofuels officially opened a new B100 Trail location in Saxapahaw, North Carolina, adding to the six other locations throughout the region. The ribbon cutting ceremony took place outside the Saxahapahaw General Store where members of the community, friends, family, coop members, and elected officials showed up to mark the momentous occasion. State Representative Alice Bordsen, and Alamance County Commissioners Tom Manning and Eddie Boswell spoke to the crowd and helped cut the ribbon before the crowd moved into The Eddy, Saxapahaw's new pub and restaurant, for celebratory food and drink.

Our new location is operational and ready for new and existing members to fill up their vehicles the next time they make their way to the charming town of Saxapahaw. Stop in, fill up your vehicle with biodiesel, and then grab a delicious meal at the Saxapahaw General Store. This tank was funded with support from the Carolina Blue Skies Initiative, in partnership with Triangle J Council of Governments, Clean Cities, and the US Department of Energy.

Cold Press is Getting Hot

Piedmont has been getting a lot of attention lately for the Monfort's Komet Oil Seed Presses. This month we've been running tests for our clients on everything from flax and sunflowers to walnuts and noni seed. We are pleased at the strong interest we are getting from a wide variety of customers desiring a quality cold pressed oil,so it's good to be teamed up with IBG Monforts, the world leader in cold press oil seed presses.

Earlier this month, Piedmont's Chris Jude visited
Monforts at the 37th Winter Fancy Food show in San Francisco. It was quite the trade show, and Chris may have had his fill of fancy cheeses and chocolates.  We see a strong movement in the US for healthy, delicious cold pressed oils and look forward to talking to you about the Komet series of oil seed presses.

Grease Appreciations Continues

Last week, members, employees, friends, and family showed up to January's Grease Appreciation dinner at Edwards Mill Bar and Grill in Raleigh. The rain didn't stop the crowd of over twenty people from coming to enjoy the delicious food, excellent selection of local beers, and friendly staff at this restaurant. To the folks at Edwards Mill; thanks for filling our tanks.

Edwards Mill Bar and Grill is one of the many accounts in Raleigh who help provide Piedmont Biofuels with used cooking oil that we use to make quality biodiesel. Although January was a near record setting month in terms of oil collections, we are always looking for new sources of used cooking oil from businesses around the region. If you know of any restaurants that would like to partner with Piedmont Biofuels, contact Lyle at: lyle@biofuels.coop
