Air-Open/Air-Close Guns Reduce Stringing

Adhesive stringing or "Angel Hair", as it is often referred, can be a costly nuisance in any hot melt application environment. There are many theories as to how it can be reduced. Adjusting temperature, self-cleaning nozzles, zero cavity valves are all "urban legends" when trying to reduce or remove angel adhesive stringing. One solution, however, provides results. Air Open/Air Close glue modules (AO/AC), is the best solution for eliminating adhesive stringing. Unlike conventional air open/spring close valves, the AO/AC valves deliver as much as 100 times more force when closing the valve. This force which occurs between the needle (carbide tipped) and the seat (carbide insert) can create a "snapping" action that breaks the adhesive strand flowing through the hot melt valve. This increased force allows for clean cut-off regardless of adhesive type. Whether you're using a conventional EVA, Metallocin or PSA based adhesive, the AO/AC valve will significantly reduce, if not eliminate the adhesive stringing.
