Have you ever seen well-meaning employees in your operation pour the remains of a old glue drum into the just-opened fresh drum? Or have you ever watched the forklift raise the old tote and drain the last few gallons into the top of the new tote? If so, you are at risk!  Water-based adhesives are suspensions of solid materials in water and over time will settle out. What is left at the bottom of a drum can contain far more solids than the original well mixed drum. When this is poured into a fresh barrel, you are actually significantly increasing the viscosity in the new barrel. So if you see lazy starts and poor cut-off in your water-based glue application, check your glue container changeover practices and leave that sludge in the bottom.
