The girls will be competing in talent, fitness, scholarship, self-expression, and judges' interview during the competition. Many thousands of dollars of scholarships and awards will be shared among the teens.
The Distinguished Young Women (Jr. Miss) is the oldest and largest scholarship program for high school junior girls in existence. The nonprofit program's goal is to honor young women who excel and encourage them to obtain a college education and assume roles of leadership in their communities and professions. Since 1958, the program has helped more than 700,000 young women obtain education and scholarship opportunities. The program has awarded nearly $90 million in cash scholarships to Junior Miss participants in programs across the nation over the last five decades. |

THE MUSIC MAN
April 1 * 7:30 pm
$25 adults/$20 students (to age 18)
Get in line for a one-night performance of The Music Man as the Broadway touring musical makes a stop in Blackfoot. With their own outstanding performers, orchestra, set, and sound, this show promises an evening rich in entertainment. The Music Man is considered to be one of the most famous and successful musicals of all time. It's the clever story of a traveling salesman and his visit to a small Iowa town where he meets and falls in love with the willful, spinster librarian. With his fast-talking style, "Professor" Harold Hill convinces the town that unless they adopt his revolutionary music program, the youngsters of River City will be forever doomed. Chaos ensues as Hill's credentials are questioned and he is called upon to prove himself to the citizens of River City. Composer Meredith Wilson's score will have you singing along to familiar tunes like Goodnight My Someone, Till There Was You, Trouble, and 76 Trombones. |
