Stephanie was three months pregnant when she was hospitalized. During her five month stay in the hospital she gave birth to her second son, who was born 7 weeks premature. A boy, a talking plant, and a dentist? What more does a Broadway show need than this? One of the longest Off-Broadway shows of all time, this spoof of 1950's movies has become a house-hold name, thanks to the highly successful Disney film and song-writing team of Ashman and Menken. The New York Times said "This horticulture horror will have you screaming with laughter!"
The story: A down-and-out skid row floral assistant becomes an overnight sensation when he discovers and exotic plant with a mysterious craving for fresh blood. The R & B carnivore offers him fame and fortune in exchange for feeding its growing appetite. The music, composed in the style of early 1960s rock and roll, doo-wop and early Motown, includes several well-known tunes, including the title song, "Skid Row (Downtown)", "Somewhere That's Green," and "Suddenly, Seymour". |
