Chefs Tour Beef Farms
The PA Beef Council partnered with Herr Angus Farms, Nottingham, PA, and Nissley Brothers Farm, Mount Joy, PA, to host more than 15 Indian Ridge Provisions sales representatives and local chefs during an interactive farm tour on Wednesday, November 3.
Indian Ridge Provisions, Telford, PA, is a purveyor of fine meat and fresh seafood and is working to drive beef sales by helping PA restaurants add local beef to their menus.
The tour kicked off at Herr Angus Farms where the group received a first-hand look at a cow/calf operation during a pasture tour. The group boarded a hay wagon and headed to the fields while Dennis Byrne, manager of Herr Angus Farms, spoke about the farm's day-to-day operation, their commitment to animal health, genetics and nutrition, and the importance of sustainability. "We try to be as efficient as possible with the resources we have," said Bryne. "We take this very seriously."

Rachael Ray Loves Beef!
The Beef Checkoff, through the Northeast Beef Promotion Initiative, promoted beef at the Metropolitan Cooking and Entertaining Show, November 13-14. More than 25,000 people attended the show from the D.C. area.
The Beef Team, including Beef Council staff members Lisa Jones, Tiffany Cessna & Nichole Hockenberry, along with the National Beef Ambassador Team & Roseda Beef, served more than 8,000 grilled salsa steak samples, exceeding expectations and doubling the number from last year. Show volunteers wore BEEF logo aprons as they took tickets, helped chefs and answered questions. Chef Dave Zino, NCBA, headlined three educational workshops teaching entertaining with beef lessons to more than 200 people. Through a Holiday Beef Basket raffle, 750 people were added to The Beef Checkoff's Beef So Simple weekly e-recipe. The team also met Rachael Ray who signed their shirts. She wrote "Go Meat!" and told them she loves Beef!
