RI Election Days: No Student Bus Service

RI public schools are closed on election days, meaning there will be no school buses for FASRI students on November 6. Please plan accordingly.

Morning Drop-Off

If you pull up on the school side of John Street to let out your children, please be sure to stay in your car and let your children exit. We have staff to help if needed. This keeps the line moving smoothly. Merci.

A message from the Embassy

There has been some worry recently, regarding the unrest in the Middle East. This morning, we received confirmation from the French Embassy in Washington, D.C., that there is no cause for alarm for French schools in the States at this time. We will be sure to keep our community updated.

Field Day this Friday

Friday morning is Field Day at FASRI for students in Grades 1-8. Children in these grades should come to school ready to play:
  • Sporty/comfortable shorts and t-shirt
  • Sneakers and socks
  • A hat for the sun
  • A sweater/sweatshirt in case it's chilly
  • A reusable water bottle
Merci!

  • Clubs are well underway. There are still spaces in Soccer (Thursdays), Fencing (Wednesdays), and Arabic (Mondays)! Please see Anne to register.
  • Please remember to inform Anne or your child's teacher whether they will be attending La Garderie during the week or if there are any changes in your schedule.
  • October Camp will be held from October 22-26, 2012. We have exciting activities planned this year including a trip to Salem, MA, a day at Frederick's Farm (mazes, hayrides, pumpkin picking), cooking classes on Friday baking Fall treats and a whole lot more! Flyers are available in the Main Office. Registration will open next week!
For questions, comments, and all registration, please contact Anne Lacoste Kapstein, Coordinator of the Afterschool & Language Center: alkapstein@fasri.org.

Mosquitos and evening activities

This week, the RI Department of Health issued recommendations to prevent mosquito-borne illness:

  • Avoid outdoor activities during dawn and dusk. Mosquitoes are most active at this time
  • If you must be outside at dawn or dusk, wear an insect repellent with no more than 30 percent DEET
  • Wear long-sleeve shirts and long pants when possible to avoid exposing skin to mosquitoes
FASRI teacher in need of an apartment

Have an apartment to rent on the East Side or nearby? Know somebody who does? One of our new teachers is in need of an apartment for the school year. Please contact Kate Gorton (kgorton@fasri.org) for more information.

Have something you would like to share with your fellow FASRI families? Please e-mail Kate Gorton to submit to "Our Community." Merci.
