Update from the Head of School

The school year is off to a great start, thanks to the wonderful, talented and dedicated people who teach your children every day.

The search continues for an Education Director. While our intrepid staff and faculty have stepped into their adjusted roles, there remains a need for a manager dedicated solely to the implementation of our educational development plan and parent communication regarding our program: someone who can "connect all the dots."

Since it may take time to find the best candidate for the position, we have put out the word for an interim director while we search. This position could become permanent if the right candidate applies and accepts, so if you know of anyone who would be interested, please have them contact my assistant, Kate Gorton, for a job description and more details: kgorton@fasri.org

Thank you for your collaboration and understanding. As always, my door is open should you have questions or comments.

Dominique Velociter
Head of School

Notes from the Office

Pick-up & Drop-off

Things are getting better, smoother and faster; merci! Please make sure that you inform your guardians, sitters, and relatives of our procedures to help even more:

  • Every day, between 8:15 and 8:30 am, and between 2:50 and 3:15 pm, John Street becomes a one way street, in the direction of Hope Street. We receive special approval from the police department to do this in order to keep our students safe.
  • The same rules for other one-way streets are in effect during these times on John Street. Please refrain from doing U-turns on the street or trying to exit from your parking space in the opposite direction at this time.
  • During school hours, the school side of John Street is a fire lane, even during drop-off and dismissal times. Please stay in your car if you are in line; this will keep the lane free and moving smoothly, especially in the case of an emergency.
  • Please also keep in mind general rules of the road while dropping off and picking up: no double parking, no passing school buses, and driving the speed limit.
  • Keep the sidewalk free of congestion before 3:00 at dismissal.
  • Together with these guidelines, we can make pick-up and drop-off time even smoother and keep everyone safe: adults and students alike! Merci beaucoup.

RI Election Days: No Student Bus Service

RI public schools are closed on election days, meaning there will be no school buses for FASRI students on the following days: September 11 and November 6. Please plan accordingly.

Back-to-School Night tomorrow

Our faculty and staff are excited to welcome you tomorrow night for our annual Back-to-School Night. Please remember, this is an evening for parents only, so plan childcare accordingly.

From 6:00 - 7:00, please join us in the Auditorium for the School Fair. This is a great opportunity to learn more about different aspects of FASRI: Parents' Association, School Forum, Extracurricular Activities, Library, and more. Wine and cheese will be served!

From 7:00 - 8:00, we invite you to visit your child(ren)'s classrooms. Each teacher has prepared a special presentation of their plans for the year that they are excited to share with you.
