FASRI Faculty off to Seattle!
5 faculty members, our Head of School and our Education Coordinator are in Seattle this week, attending the annual conference for NAIS (National Association for Independent Schools). The topic this year: INNOVATION. We can't wait for them to come back and share their wonderful ideas with their students and peers.
French Elections: Vice-Consul to Collect Votes at FASRI
The French Vice-Consul will be at FASRI on Tuesday, March 6, from 1-5 PM, collecting proxy votes for the presidential elections. No appointment necessary. Please check in with the Main Office when you arrive.
Parent/Teacher Conferences
Parent/teacher conferences begin on Monday, March 19, for students in PS - Grade 5. Sign-up sheets are now in the Main Office.

The Middle School Parent/Teacher Conferences will be on Thursday, March 22. 
FASRI Wares Coming Soon

FASRI branded t-shirts, bumper stickers, backpacks are coming soon! Here's what you need to know:

  • For the upcoming Francophonie performance: white branded polos will be required to ensure students look uniform and polished. We are finalizing details. Order forms will be sent home next week. 
  • A full selection will be available in early spring. Families must pre-order. 
  • A big MERCI to Shonna Dowers, Amy Larkin and the Parents' Association for their help! 
Classroom Pages
Each month, every grade (and even the library!) will put up a classroom page: a window into a fun and interesting activity they are doing. You can find all of them on our website: http://fasri.org/parents/classroom

Feel free to check out any and all grades you would like!  
School Forum Minutes
The School Forum met on February 8 and discussed the following topics:

francophonieFestival de la FRANCOPHONIE: Mark your calendars

 

March is the month we celebrate our French culture and language. Major events will be held all around New England and more particularly at FASRI.  

  

March 2

Mardi Gras @ FASRI

 

   

Open to FASRI students and alumni from 1st to 8th grade.   

Friday, March 2 from 6.30pm - 9pm in the FASRI auditorium.   

There will be crepes, beverages, music, dance, costumes,  

and fun for the whole family.   

$10 Adult/$7 Student.  

 

March 15

FASRI's Got Talent!   

FASRI students invite you to enjoy their piano recital and theater performance: Star Academy written and performed by FASRI's theater club and Trinity Repertory. Free and open to all.   

 

March 20

Levée du drapeau

  FASRI students will sing at the Rhode Island Statehouse at the annual Francophonie flag-raising ceremony, attended by officials and the French-speaking community. This year's flag-raising ceremony is on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at 1.30pm at the Rhode Island Statehouse.   

 

 FASRI: A local leader in Dual Language Education

At 3.30pm, the celebration moves to FASRI, where there will be student led tours and a presentation of FASRI and dual language education.  The day will conclude with a reception at 6pm at the Alliance Francaise of Providence. Free and open to all.

 

 March 22

« Le Carnaval des Animaux » de Camille St Saens  

Alexey Shabalin, renowned violinist, D.M.A violin and music professor from Providence College, will perform "Le Carnaval des Animaux" by Camille St Saens on Thursday March 22 from 5-6pm in FASRI's auditorium.  Free and open to all.

CAFE DAY
The next Café Day is this Friday, March 2. Come and have a cup of coffee and a pastry and mingle with FASRI parents and staff!

SPRING PARK CLEAN-UP
On Saturday, May 12, FASRI parents and students will gather to give the Brassil Memorial Park (on Brook Street) a spring cleaning. Bring a rake and gloves and come help out! More details to follow soon.

Les Petits Français est un groupe de familles francophones basé sur la pratique de la langue française à travers des activités ludiques et sociales. Les rencontres proposées sont aussi bien pour les petits que pour les grands : bricolage, sortie au musée pour enfants, balade dans les parcs de la région, sortie au restaurant, etc.
