What skills Do You Want To Add To Your Repertoire?
I often think ahead about where my interest and passion lie, where I am going. That is a good thing, but not if you expect to already be there with the skills ready as soon as you desire it. I have a little thing called impatience. I think of what I want to do and want to be doing it now. Do you ever do that? I have been coached before about this and learned that it takes time to develop the new skills that you want. Now, I know this for other people and coach my clients on this; I just have a blind spot about this for myself sometimes.
So, last fall, I desired to be teaching classes and be a speaker like David Neagle, who I was taking classes from at the time. I wanted it then. Through coaching, I began doing a lot of reading about money, money principle, Universal Laws, the very same things that I was learning at a deep level. I spent time on it most every day and read books recommended by my mentor, David Neagle. I also relistened to classes and took notes on them. I really didn't want to do this, because as much as I loved the material, I didn't have the thought that relistening to them would be fun. I always benefited from each call that I listened to though. And, by taking notes and reading, I got to know the material so well, that it was easy to answer any questions about it and quote ideas, not necessarily exactly.
I kept taking more classes, did more reading and my free teleclasses got better because my content was better and I was so excited about it. They didn't transform overnight. Some still needed work but they kept getting better. And, when I went to a small intensive workshop with David in January, he announced that he was offering a certification program to teach these same ideas. It was a big investment but I knew that it fit into what I wanted to do so much, that I couldn't pass it up. I signed up as soon as I could make the arrangements.
More training ensued and now I am offering those very same classes that I love. And, it has transformed my life, by taking these classes and the training. I am now intending to be more comfortable delivering this material in person and to bigger audiences.
I had no idea that David would offer this opportunity last fall when I set my intention, but it fit right into my plans. And, the steps I took and I am taking now are making it happen, exactly as I intended.
So, I recommend to you: set your intention for what you want. You don't have to make it happen immediately. You do need to take steps to make it happen, though. Stay focused on your goal. And, remember, "You don't have to leap across the whole pond at once, just jump from lily pad to lily pad." Author Unknown |
