SIHG 7
I am so very pleased to ann
ounce to you the recent acquisition by DTW of a very dynamic ministry called Hands of Hope International (HOHI). We believe the convergence of our two organizations has happened through the guidance of God. We are humbled and honored to now have the privilege of uplifting
and helping expand this Godly ministry, in serving and supporting the orphan children they serve in Kenya, through an orphanage called Seeds In HIS Garden Children's Trust (SIHG).  Hands of Hope International is a 7 year-old Christian non-profit organization based in Monterey, California, pioneered by the powerful vision of Wayne Adams, retired founding pastor of Cypress Community Church, and a dedicated and gifted visionary for the cause of Christ. Seeds in HIS Garden Trust was created by, and is run in Kenya by Wayne's daughter, Becky Adams, a dedicated and gifted missionary leader with years of experience among the poor and hurting of the world.  Together, they form a bridge for resources and volunteers to reach orphans and vulnerable children in a very similar manner as we have been doing at DTW for the past 21 years.

By drawing Hands of Hope under the ministry of Discover the World, our board of directors believes that God has opened a door for DTW to uplift and support and hopefully expand the ministries of both HOHI and SIHG. We also welcome the ongoing partnership of the former HOHI board of directors and their many dedicated supporters, who bring passion, vision and dedication to this vital cause.

Becky and the Kids
In the fall of 2010, DTW was approached by the board of HOHI for assistance, and then after months of discussion, diligent research and profound times of prayer, the Board of Directors of DTW determined that it is in keeping with the goals and strategies of DTW to welcome HOHI as a ministry partner.  I have known Wayne for a long, long time, but never dreamed we might be serving alongside one another in service to the most vulnerable children on earth.  We are honored to be joining the community of faith that he represents.

Just last month, I was joined with two colleagues to visit Becky and the children at Seeds in HIS Garden in Kenya. As you can see from this photo, we were surrounded by love and joy, and encouraged by the dedicated team that is guiding the children to a very bright future.

As we now bring into our family of ministries the wonderful Hands of Hope International and its partner Seeds in His Garden Children's Trust of Kenya, we are very, very excited about the possibilities of the ministry we can now accomplish working closely together. Discover the World will continue in providing care, education, Christian training and future opportunities for self-sufficiency to its primary partners of:

·     The Shepherds Homes in Sigona and Gilgil

·      Shelter Children's Home in Ngong

·      Care 4 Kids International in Eldoret

·      The new Heritage Baby Reception Center for abandoned babies

·      Neema House and Kimplwas Childrens orphanges in Eldoret

We depend on the Lord, who challenges us all to:

"Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know." -Jeremiah 33:3

We are all counting on Pastor Wayne to continue his strong voice on behalf of the "Seeds" ministry in Kenya, and the beautiful and gifted children whom they serve.  We are praying that God will lead you, the dedicated supporters, donors and prayer warriors who faithfully uplift Hands of Hope, in continuing to stand with us as well.  In this, a new chapter of mutual assistance and cooperation, Discover the World is honored to be supporting Hands of Hope and Seeds in HIS Garden with services here in the USA to you the sponsors and donors. Please do not hesitate to contact me if there is anything we can do to provide a closer connection to Becky and the children of Kenya.

Sincerely in Christ,

Doug Millham
President

Celebrating Christmas in Kenya

SH xmas
Christmas came early this year for the children at Shelter Children's Home, who were greeted by "Santas" bearing gifts, candy, and the joy of Christmas, with every child receiving a special treat. They were able to celebrate this wonderful occassion thanks to the many volunteers who traveled to the home with Caring for Kids of Kenya, the other non-profit organization that works with Discover the World in providing care and assistance to the over 200 children that reside there. They also had their official Christmas party on Christmas Day made possible by another donor. What a blessing it is to be able to spread the joy of Christmas and give to those who are in need, being constantly reminded that we have all received the most precious gift of all.

A Special Gift from our Troops

US Navy
What a treat it was to receive this letter and generous donation from Mark Maines, a United States Navy Chaplain. He and his father, Ron, have been deeply dedicated to the ministry of Discover the World and now Mark and the Marine Corps Base Camp Kinser Protestant Worship Service congregation have donated $1,000 to our ministry.
We are eternally grateful for the dedication of these service men and women oversees who are giving of themselves to keep our world safe. They are truly testimonies of what it means to serve and we are so thankfull for their support and prayers, and welcome them as partners in our ministry.
