John 14:18 "I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you."

We are so thankful that the Lord has provided funds for us to begin the crucial task of rescuing abandoned babies in the western Kenya city of Eldoret....where far too many children are being born and then left at bus stops or police stations, with little or no services available for their care.  In partnership with the Eldoret Children's Forum (a consortium of small Christian children's programs) Discover the World will provide leadership and resources to renovate a vacant building near an orphanage, and staff and furnish it to take in 20 children as soon as we possibly can do so.  Thanks to a $10,000 lead gift from the International Foundation of Miami, and a $5,000 gift from the Lehmann-Boddiker family of Encino, we are 1/4 of the way towards our goal of $60,000 to fully complete, staff and run this facility.

Far too many babies there are born to underage girls, or for many other reasons by those who are not ready to become mothers.  Children born out of wedlock are also considered cursed by many, as are babies with HIV/AIDS.  But God loves these children, and so we must do something, and do it soon.  As a result, our board has directed us to begin this project with the funds we have, in faith that the rest will come in.  So, we will be starting this facility with 24 infants sometime next month.  If you can help with a pledge or a one-time gift, anything you can provide will greatly help us complete the facility, and also to staff and feed those children for quite a while.  It will also enable us to provide for our administrative expenses in making that facility a reality.

Beginning this journey of preparing a facility for safe, clean, and loving care for these abandoned babies makes the work we do at Discover the World point to the heart of Jesus. It is He who makes all things new, brings life into this world, and cares for those who seem to have no one. It is by this model we strive to come together with the Eldoret Baby Reception Center to 'bring hope' to those precious young lives.

Welcome New Sponsors

One of the most practical ways you can support Discover the World and the work we do on behalf of vulnerable children is becoming a Sponsor!

This year it has been a challenge, but we have new sponsor who have committed to support one of the children in our partnership programs; and to them we offer a huge amount of thanks and gratitude for this sacrifice!!!

We wanted to thank them for answering our request for help and encourage you to consider doing the same. And if you have given and are continuing to support us, we are so grateful for your generosity and love as this has become a difficult time world wide.

We find that although we face financial struggles here, the affects on those already in a severe poverty situation feel it even more. We want to thank those who have joined this global outreach and together, with your sponsorship, we can continue to help those in greatest need.

"You will be made rich in every way, so that you can be generous on every occasion." - II Corinthians 9:11

What we discover in this ministry is that the people and places in need of God's grace comes in all sizes and situations. This month we have highlighted the least of these, the infants who have been abandoned in a world where they are completely dependent on someone's generous heart.

Having met Patrick from Care 4 Kids and witnessing his ability to soothe these babies to sleep just by the sound of his voice, illustrated to us his gift to take in these most vulnerable children.

We have the opportunity to join this particular group as they are the hands and feet of Jesus to these infants. We thank you for considering extending the hope that only comes from our heavenly Father.

May the Lord Bless you for your generosity,

Doug Millham
