Are you the family for Aaron?

| |
"Aaron" EE-40A, is a sweet 3 year old boy who was born prematurely. He is diagnosed with severe hearing loss in both ears and he is experiencing developmental delays. He has a hearing device and is able to hear which is helping his development. He is ready to be part of your family and reach his full potential with your love.
Pictures and a medical are available if you are interested in adopting this little boy. Two trips are anticipated to complete the adoption.
If you are interested in this little boy, please contact Angela Jackson, our waiting child coordinator. We encourage families who have their homestudy complete to inquire, but if you do not, we ask that you are ready to work quickly to complete everything.
CAS has several waiting children. See more on the Waiting Children page. For questions about waiting children, contact Angela Jackson, our waiting child coordinator. She will be able to guide you through the different programs and application. |

ADOPTION NEWS
Introducing Uganda: You have a new option in adoption, Uganda! The children available are ages 1-3 years old with infants available occasionally. We invite families between the ages of 25-44 who are either single women or have been married more than two years. The orphanage also requests that families are Christian.
To learn more about adopting, visit the Uganda adoption page or join us for one of our "Adopting from Uganda" webinars.
Haiti Improves: Adoptions from Haiti are opening up to more families. The first big change is that the time to finalize your adoption has been reduced to 9-12 months. You are usually matched with a child within three months making your whole adoption around 15 months. The second great piece of news is that the marriage requirement has been reduced to 5 years. Single parents are still invited to adopt from Haiti as well. This is becoming a go to country if you would like to adopt a young child, easy travel, and a timeframe comparable to other countries.
If you are interested in adopting from either of these countries, please contact Allie Weldon.
China: CCCWA is celebrating their 15 anniversary. In commemoration the CCCWA will be publishing a book dedicated to their efforts to find families for the children of China. The Director of CCCWA is asking adoptive families to send pictures and stories of their adoption to the CCCWA.

Communicating with Your Child
by Susan Fox
By the time my son was 15 months old he knew the word, No! However, he couldn't say the word, yes. There was a certain tone of no, that meant no, and there was a certain tone of no that meant yes. It was frustrating for everyone. I had heard about using what's call, Baby Signs and decided to try it. If anything to try to teach him the word yes. So I began making the sign for yes and would repeatedly use the sign as I said the word yes when he said the no sound for yes. In no time he was using the sign and then quickly started saying the word yes. We immediately started integrating some additional signs for simple everyday things such as more, yes, no, please, a nd thank you.
Since all people, children included, learn through repetition, signing serves as a powerful educational tool. It makes perfect sense for children adopted internationally! Many families who have adopted internationally are utilizing this great tool to help during the transition period while their child acquires English. This could be used with infants as well as older children; after all most of us use a few gestures while we are talking anyway. Signs for more, eat, milk, potty, and I love you are the most common. Parents can start slowly with some of the basic needs, depending on the age of their child and expand from there. When toddlers and children can replace some of their frustration from not being able to communicate with their new parents, families will find that it dramatically improves their relationship, adjustment, and attachment with their adopted child.
