Are You Ready for a Kiss?

Child waiting in China

"Danny is a somewhat shy little boy with a ready smile and is full of energy.  He like to play with toys and to be outside.  He adapts quickly to new things.  "Danny" is almost three years of age and has microtia affecting both ears.

Pictures and a medical are available to families who are interested in adopting this little boy.  One trip is anticipated to complete the adoption.
If you are interested in this little boy, please contact Angela Jackson, our waiting child coordinator.  We encourage families who have their homestudy complete to inquire, but if you do not, we ask that you are ready to work quickly to complete everything.

CAS has several waiting children.  See more on the
Waiting Children pageFor questions about waiting children, contact Angela Jackson, our waiting child coordinator.  She will be able to guide you through the different programs and application.

News to Note:  June 2011
Greetings!

Welcome to the 20 families who joined the CAS Family in May!  We look forward to you becoming a part of this great community.  We would also like to welcome seven families home with their beautiful children.  Cindi offers hints on your homestudy paperwork and CAS remembers the founder of ABC Adoption Services, Anne Carpenter.

Haiti has surprised us with some great news for families.  The Moldova program has temporarily suspended new applications.  Families are processing quickly through Russia and China Waiting Child.  Please consider a waiting child; we have many children needing families.

Thank you for the feedback last month on things you would like to see in this email.  We are working on ideas and you should begin seeing things soon!

ADOPTION NEWS
Child in Haiti
Haiti:  A family recently received a referral of an infant girl within two weeks of submitting their dossier.  Our contacts in Haiti have said that the adoption process is currently moving faster. The average wait from referral, at this time, until the adoption is finalized is about 12-18 months.  This is a significant improvement from the past average wait of 24 months or longer.  Please contact Allie Weldon for more information about this program.

Korea:  If you have been interested in learning more about adopting from Korea, now is your chance.  On June 20, at 6:00 pm we will have a webinar on adopting from Korea.  Hear from Program Coordinator, Heather Gordon, and a home family all about the benefits of this program.  Learn more...

Kenya:  Our license in Kenya has officially been renewed!  Along with that good news, families will have a shorter 8-10 month stay in Kenya.  If you are interested in this program, please contact Mary Beth King.

Hints from Cindi for Homestudy Paperwork and Preparation

When it comes to your homestudy no one is going toCindi understand how complex it is except those who have been through it or are also working on their homestudy.  It seems that there is more paperwork then anything else you have done.  But, adopting a child is one if not the most important thing you will do in your life.

While completing your homestudy you have to share everything about yourself, past, present, and future.  In some ways I am sure you might feel pretty exposed, but it is worth it in the end when you see that beautiful little face looking up at you.  You will receive a large amount of paperwork for your homestudy all at once, it's a bit overwhelming, but please read it carefully.  Sometimes, I think families are so excited to begin their adoption that they skim over everything.  That leads to people forgetting to complete the background checks, child abuse clearances, and all the other important forms that the state requires.  If they are not completed or not correct, the state will send them back to CAS, which will delay your adoption.

If you have any questions about completing these forms, don't hesitate to call.  The adoption process can be long and complicated, but we are here for you and to support you.  We are your cheering section and your help desk.  CAS wants you to have a wonderful experience.  Just remember to take it one step at a time.  A little caution in the beginning will make things go a whole lot smoother.

Please remember that if you move or change any of your contact information to let us know.  Even after your adoption is completed we like to keep you up to date on what is going on in the world of adoption.

Questions, contact Cindi.

IN MEMORY...
