News to Note June 2010
Greetings!

The summer is heating up and so are the activities at CAS!  Remember that summer is the best time to start your adoption and get your homestudy complete while schedules are more flexible.  In other news we are building a "Haven In Haiti", recruiting volunteers, and invite you to the CAS Family Picnic.

Important Program News

Russia:  Families who have recently completed their adoptions from Russia have experienced an average of 9.5 months from submission of dossier to coming home with their child (WOW)!  With new lower fees, Russia becomes a must for families considering international adoption.  For more information about this program watch the Joys of Adopting From Russia Webinar or talk to Angela about how this program can work for you.

News from Russia.  While we still wait for an agreement to be signed between Russia & the U.S., adoptions have continued.  The parties will meet again in June to review the agreement draft.  CAS is a Hague accredited agency and in good standing with Russian adoption officials.  This will help families who work with us to continue to bring their children home.

Haiti:  We are now accepting applications to the Haiti Program.  For more information please see the update.

Help CAS build a "Haven In Haiti".  Over the next months you will hear about the planning efforts to rebuild the Maison des Anges orphanage in Haiti.  Learn more about what is needed by visiting the project page on our website.

CAS Family Picnic
Picnic

Save the Date of October 2, 2010 for the annual CAS Family Picnic.  The picnic is a great time to meet CAS families, and become a part of the wonderful international adoption community.

Interested in making this a great event for all?  Contact Siri Scott about the Picnic Planning Committee or business sponsorships.  Areas in the committee are Entertainment, Food & Beverage, and Decorations.  Business sponsorships are just as important as volunteers to making this event a success for all the families, so please consider sponsoring.

The CAS Picnic will be held at Bur-Mil Park in Greensboro.  Please save the date, more information to come soon!
Smiling Faces Needed

CAS needs smiling faces as volunteers this summer.  They would answer the phone and assist with some other light duties in our Greensboro office during normal business hours (M-F, 9-5).  Volunteer part-time, a few hours a day, or one day a week.  Do you know of a college student in need of volunteer hours, a friend who would like to help families and children, or are you the smiling face we need?  If you are interested or know someone who might be please contact Susan Fox.
Father's Day Give Away

Fathers are special people.  They have lots of responsibility, work hard, and take care of chores no one else wants to do.  CAS would like to recognize all the great fathers out there with a special Fishing Package raffle.  For all who donate at least $10 from now until Father's Day, June 20, 2010, will be entered to win this fabulous day of fishing.

Join Master Orvis Guide, James DeBoe, for a day of fly fishing on the Cascades at The Homestead Resort in Virginia.
Your day will include:
  • Customized four hour guided fishing trip for two people
  • Free gear
  • Full day stream passes on the famous Cascades stream
For more information on The Homestead visit their website.
This is a wonderful way to help more children have forever fathers as well as have a chance to win a great fishing experience for a father you love.

All donations via the website or check will need to be noted "Father's Day Fishing" to be entered in to the drawing.  Donations to A Haven In Haiti will qualify for the drawing.  If you have any questions, please contact
Siri Scott.
Sincerely,
