Ain't Misbehavin': Discipline & the Adopted Child
What parent hasn't been in this situation, in a supermarket, the playground or at bedtime? You ask your child to do something and she says, "NO!" You insist more firmly and she continues to resist. Eventually, she throws herself on the floor and screams "I hate you!" Typical toddler behavior, right?
But what if the child is a not two but ten? What if she came into your family through adoption? You may begin to wonder if adoption is playing a role in her behavior. Perhaps an early childhood trauma is playing itself out. Now what do you do?

Do Not Forget to Honor Someone Special with a Holiday Card!
In the tiny country of Moldova lives the very talented water color artist, Ion Carchelan. This artist uses his native country's quaint beauty to depict everyday scenes with precise detail and vibrant color. The painting, "Children in the snow," captures the fun of being a child in winter. The children in this painting live not far from a more stark reality in Moldova. There are thousands of children in Moldova which live in orphanages and boarding schools who will never know the pure joy and excitement of just being a child. They are caught in the bleak circumstance of survival and existence. Ion Carchelan and Molee Fine Art have donated to Carolina Adoption Services fine quality holiday greeting cards to help raise money to support these orphaned and needy children.
You can help too by requesting these holiday cards to give to your family and friends. A small donation of $5 for each card will certainly help CAS further the mission of helping needy children have better lives and brighter futures.

Fun for All at the National Adoption Day Celebration!
The first annual National Adoption Day Celebration at the Greensboro Children's Museum was a huge success. Adoptive families and foster children enjoyed an adoption area, where they could adopt a doll and see how the process works, an adoption story time, and all the fun exhibits at the museum. We are looking forward to expanding the celebration next year and look forward to seeing more families and children enjoy the day.
