Making Strides in the Ride for Hope!
|
Greetings!
Happy Memorial Day!
Thank you for your votes for Tara! While she had nearly 3,500 votes, it wasn't enough to win the new custom van. We do, however, appreciate the support.
We have some exciting events on the horizon. On June 16, we'll be at the Harmon Classics benefit dinner, dance and auction in beautiful Tryon, N.C. On July 8, we'll be in Traverse City, Mich. More on Traverse City and a few new events next month! Building our future for a better tomorrow. That's what the Charlie Weaver Legacy Fund is all about. Many of you have already heard about our endowment fund that was launched in the fall of 2011. It's an important way to ensure that we're here to help our friends in need for decades to come. See more below. If you missed last month's issue - the new Zen Horse Koi silk scarf is now available! Please see the info below on how to order this beautiful piece of wearable art! With your generous donations, the EAF has distributed more than $1.9 million since we began helping those in need in 1996. EAF recipients receive financial assistance for medical, rehabilitation and basic needs expenses - such as food and housing. Help a horseman, equestrian or equine professional during their time of medical crisis! Change a life today with your donation.

Thank you for your votes!

Last month we shared the story of recipient and board of governors member Tara Celentano. She was a contest applicant for a new custom wheelchair van as part of National Mobility Month. Thank you so much for supporting her entry. The contest ended at the beginning of the month and she had nearly 3,500 votes! Unfortunately, it doesn't look like she's made it into the finals.
"I am 37 years old and had my dream job as a professional horse trainer. On December 27, 2006, it all changed when I had a catastrophic accident in Florida. I was bringing a young horse in from the paddock when he jumped on my back, knocked me down and broke my neck. The injury left me a tetraplegic. What exactly does that mean?" Read the full story here.
If you can help Tara on her quest for a new van, please let us know by email.
Help Tara and EAF Recipients with a donation to EAF now.

|
|

As an endowment fund for the Equestrian Aid Foundation and a commitment to its enduring mission, the Legacy Fund will ensure money exists to help equestrians in dire need of assistance.
About Legendary Horseman Charlie Weaver
Charlie, a successful horseman and rider, passed away on June 7,2010
from injuries he sustained in a riding accident. His stellar career as a hunter rider and trainer was highlighted by his induction into the
National Show Hunter Hall of Fame in 2002 and the championship ribbons and awards too numerous to count. Those who knew Charlie describe him as a true gentleman, an inspiration in and out of the ring, and larger-than-life in the sport he loved. His accident and injuries brought to light the need to support those in our community during a medical crisis.
Creating a legacy for a better future Your donation to the Charlie Weaver Legacy Fund will create the financial safety net needed to ensure that our mission to help others, lives on for many years to come. With support from caring people like you, we will continue to offer a helping hand, a kind word and a promise of hope during a difficult time.
