| Making Strides in the Ride for Hope! |
Dear Friends, It's been a busy summer - as you may notice the newsletter is a bit late! But, you haven't missed anything yet! Lots of fun still ahead with great fundraisers throughout September. Tomorrow (Sept. 2) is the "Back Where it all Began" fundraiser during the Hampton Classic. Tickets are available at the door. See below for some amazing auction items - everything from World Equestrian Games tickets to award-winning art. EAF will be the beneficiary of the competitor's party Sept. 10 at the American Eventing Championships in Fairburn, Ga. More than 2,000 competitors and spectators are expected to attend the party at Chattahoochee Hills. Lots of great food, drinks and auction items to round out the evening. Then it's on to Las Vegas for the "Play it Forward" poker tournament on Sept. 16. (Remember your odds to win are great - last year's winner had never played in a tournament!) If you're headed to Las Vegas anytime this year - learn how your reservation at Dollar Rent A Car helps EAF. Read the Palm Beach Post's inspiring story on EAF recipient Joe McCloskey, a former farrier who has exceeded expectations to walk after a serious injury and failed surgery. EAF donors and members enabled Joe, his wife and son to manage through some very rough times. Thanks to Caitlin Ziegler on the success of the second Used Clothes Sale at Horse Shows By the Bay in Traverse City, Mich. This fundraiser is Cate's brainchild and has been a big hit at the shows. Watch for more coming next year. If you're interested in hosting an event, becoming a sponsor or donating an item for auction, please contact us. Thank you for your continued support of the EAF, its events, programs and recipients. We can't do it without you. |

Recipient Profile - Joe McCloskey
| This is the second in a new series of profiles on EAF Recipients. While
some EAF recipients remain anonymous, many have graciously agreed to
share their inspiring stories of tragedy and hope. Please take a moment
to get to know them and see how easily everyday circumstances can
quickly change to create a need for emotional and financial support from others. If you'd like to help Joe and other recipients like him, please make a donation or become a member here.
While Joe continues to get stronger and more mobile, it will never be possible for him to regain his work as a farrier.
