Are you ready? 2010 seems to have hit with a flurry of activity! There are some really exciting fundraisers starting at the end of the month and into March. Mark your calendars for lots of fun and Florida sun!
The Lusitano Collection auction, which will be
an
amazing "must-attend" weekend. Friday night (Feb. 26)
will feature a musical quadrille, fabulous food and drinks, exclusive auction items and champagne raffle to benefit EAF, and the Lusitano showcase of the horses to be auctioned on Sat.
Mary Phelps will again host the annual party and auction at the Palm Beach Dressage Derby immediately following the jog on March 4. Auction items, including a breeding to Karin Offield's stallion Lingh, Trilogy saddle, Robert Dover's Olympic shadbelly jacket, dressage tickets and hotel room for the World Equestrian Games, and so much more. The second annual Young Riders' Carnival, hostedCaitlin Ziegler, is a surefire recipe for fun on Sat., March 6. Festive food and games make this event a great break from the competition. (Any takers for the dunk tank?) Do you own a copy of Kelly Klein's wonderful book HORSE yet? Buy one on Feb. 27 and she'll autograph it for you too. Proceeds from the book benefit EAF! So be sure to stop by and pick one up! We look forward to seeing you all in the sunshine state! Not going to be in Florida? No worries, there is bound to be a fundraiser in your area during the year. The Lusitano Auction Partners with EAF - Friday, Feb. 26 |
The EAF will host a silent auction on Friday, Feb. 26 during the Lusitano Collection cocktail party and showcase at the Jim Brandon Equestrian Center in West Palm Beach, Florida. The auction will include tickets and hotel for the dressage competition at the World Equestrian Games in Lexington, Ky.; bronze sta tue of a rearing horse valued at $17,500 (pictured at right), Barnes and Noble gift basket with a Nook digital reader donated by Stephanie Riggio; recently published book The Lusitano Horse, Origin and History by Juan Carlos Altamiranoon donated by Marc Ulanowski; Swarovski crystal browband donated by On Course Consignment in Wellington; Success Equestrian's just introduced dressage saddle pad donated by Success Equestrian; autographed coffee table book HORSE donated by photographer Kelly Klein; Baccarat teardrop crystal necklace donated by Frederico's in Traverse City, Mich. The Lusitano Collection will also auction a
rose gold plateau ring
donated by the exquisite Italian designer Vhernier.  The spectacular evening will include a parade of the horses to be auctioned on Sat. night and an 8-horse musical quadrille performance of magnificent Lusitano horses purchased from previous Lusitano Collection auctions. Saturday night the exciting professional horse auction follows a catered dinner and Carnival-style performance by Brazilian Samba dancers. The Lusitano Collection auction starts on Feb. 24 and 25 with the horse tryouts and vet check; followed by the showcase night on Feb. 26; and ending with the horse auction and gala dinner on Feb. 27. Tickets purchased in advance of Friday's event are $75 or $100 at the door. Tickets for both nights are $200 or $250 at the door and can be purchased by calling 877.546.7393. weekend with the second annual fundraiser and Live Auction for the
Equestrian Aid Foundation from 5:30-8 PM with food by Divine Dining,
drinks, and our own master of ceremonies, Nicho Meredith. Come to the
Derby VIP tent after the FEI Horse inspection, generously provided by
the PBDD organizers Evelyn O'Sullivan and Maryanne McPhail.
This year's fundraiser offers exciting products and services donated by
members of our equestrian community, as well as the opportunity to bid
on celebrity and sports memorabilia. There will be food and libation,
generously underwritten by Dr. Cetty Weiss, Robert Ross, and Kim Boyer
of Hampton Green Farm.
 Auction items: Before you make plans to ship north with Elite Horse Transportation, import a horse with HFR International Transport, order a Trilogy saddle, or buy products from popular companies, Back on Track, ThinLine, and Equisano Mushroom Products,

wet, but that didn't stop some of the best recognized names in the
jumping world to sign up with a smile - including Rodrigo Pessoa (pictured), Laura
Kraut, Margie Engle, Georgina Bloomberg, Hillary Dobbs, Brianne Goutal,
Lauren Hough and Kent Farrington. The dunk tank was good luck for
McLain Ward, who won the $150,000 CN Grand Prix the next day on
Sapphire. Even EAF president R. Scot Evans took his turn at the helm. |
Congratulations Ravel with Steffen Peters on USEF Top Honors

 Steffen Peters received the USEF's 2009 Equestrian of the Year - for the second consecutive year. His partner, Akiko Yamazaki's Ravel, earned 2009 Horse of the Year. The derserving team had a clean sweep at the Rolex FEI
World Cup Dressage Finals and the World Equestrian Festival CHIO.
