POWER UP BREAKFAST!
We all hear that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but unfortunately many people start the day off with a scone, doughnut or even a fatty breakfast sandwich from the drive-thru, which is exactly the best or healthiest way to kick-start your day! Here are some great QUICK breakfast ideas that taste great and will get your metabolism revved up for the day:
- Make instant oatmeal and mix in dried or fresh fruit and top with nuts. You can even use milk instead of water.
- Layer low-fat or greek yogurt with Kashi cereal and berries or sliced fruit.
- Blend up a smoothie with frozen berries and skim milk. Add protein powder to boost your protein intake for the day!
- Top a whole grain toaster waffle with greek yogurt and fruit or almond butter.
- Spread a flour tortilla with peanut butter or almond butter, add sliced banana and roll it up.
- Add lean ham and low-fat Swiss cheese to a toasted whole-grain English Muffin.
We'd love to hear some of your healthy breakfast ideas too! These are just a few to get you going! Please visit our Facebook Page and share your quick and healthy breakfast ideas!

ONE MORE REASON TO COME TO THE STUDIO!
INTERVAL TRAINING!! The key to fat loss isn't just in the exercise you do, but what happens after it! At The Studio, we have been using Interval Training for years to help our clients achieve fat loss. Read on to find out more about Interval Training, how it works, and how you can get started at The Studio to get results!
This is how fat loss works with Interval Training: After exercising our bodies use a lot more oxygen than when they are normally at rest. A reason for this increased oxygen is that the body is burning up energy, more specifically fat.
Let me get technical for one moment. . .
Carbohydrate reserves stored in the muscles (glycogen) can get used up quickly in intense exercise, leading to a depletion of energy stores (glycogen) in the muscles. These energy stores need to be replaced ASAP, so the body starts converting all carbohydrates from the blood stream into glycogen rather than using it for energy. In simple terms, the muscle needs to refill its stock of energy so it starts taking the sugar out of your blood and converting into stored energy inside the muscle. During this process, the body still needs energy to run itself, and fortunately the only place it can to to is the fat supplied in the blood stream which is now readily available in an oxygen rich environment. This process is intense for about an hour after exercise, but continues for hours after the training. All this time the body is using fat which is pulled directly from our fat stores as its energy source. None of this would've occured during low-intensity exercise. In fact the duration and intensity of this post exercise process is directly related to the intensity of the exercise and the duration it was maintained for. There are many other benefits from Interval Training as well, but we just focused on fat loss for this article.
