It's Barbecue Season!!

There are some great tasting, healthy foods that you can barbecue this season, but the one thing to

avoid:

HOT DOGS!!!

 Up to 80% of the calories in regular hot dogs come from FAT, and much of the fat is the unhealthiest form. . . Saturated Fat.  Eating processed foods regularly, such as hot dogs, has been shown to increase the risk of heart disease and colon cancer.  Swap out your hot dog for a lean chicken or turkey sausage, you'll get a lot less fat and way more lean protein.

I'M LOSING WEIGHT. . . WHERE DID IT GO?

You've cut calories and you see the numbers on the scale going down and your pants getting too big. . . so where did all the extra weight actually go???

When you eat fewer calories and you deficit 3,500 calories, your body loses approximately 1 lb. of fat.  When you eat less calories than you need to power your daily activities, your body creates a caloric deficit and your body begins to burn stored fat.  You don't actually lose fat cells. . . the fat cells just shrink as the fat inside of them is broken down to create energy to fuel your body.  The end products of this process are water and carbon dioxide.  The water you lose in the form of sweat and urine and the carbon dioxide you breathe out.  So it's important to drink plenty of extra water to help keep your body hydrated and flushed as you are losing the extra pounds!
