Spirit AeroSystems Expands Work at GTP
Governor Bev Perdue announced that a new aviation work package is coming to the state. Spirit AeroSystems Inc., one of the world's largest independent suppliers of commercial airplane assemblies, will add a new program to its manufacturing operations at the N.C. Global TransPark in Kinston. Spirit will establish production for the Gulfstream G250 wing at the North Carolina facility. The company anticipates that 150-200 jobs will be created over the next five years as part of this work package.

Jim Fain named president at GTP
Former N.C. Department of Commerce Secretary Jim Fain has been named president of the N.C. Global TransPark. Fain assumed the post on June 1. Darlene Waddell, chief financial officer since 1999, will continue in the executive director's post, to which she was promoted in July 2003.

GTP Rail Spur Update
Track for the 5.8 mile rail spur to serve the N.C. Global Transpark has begun to be laid on the grounds of the industrial park. The rail spur will connect to the existing North Carolina Railroad System giving GTP tenants direct rail access to the nearby deep water port of Morehead City. The track is planned to be completed in the first quarter of 2012.
