The Future of Construction in Northeast Ohio
Through a survey facilitated in part by my partner and fellow Construction Group member Ian Frank, 800 industry participants made their voices heard on their business projections. The resulting report, summarized in this article, points to the need for strong estimating and project management practices to wring profit from jobs bid with ever-tightening margins.
Asbestos Regs: What Builders Must Know.
Joe Koncelik joined our firm in 2007 after serving as Director of the Ohio EPA.  Soon after, he and I counseled a client on how to respond to the EPA's contention that it had violated Ohio's asbestos regulations.  That work inspired this two-part article, published in Builders Exchange Magazine. Read Part I. Read Part II.

The last eighteen months have been a key period in the development of the market for standard contract documents.  The AGC's family of documents assumed a new name and garnered much publicity as the ConsensusDOCS, while the AIA made news with its modifications to its A201 general conditions.  In this article, my partner Marc Sanchez and I provide an overview of the changes. Read more.

The stimulus package, enacted February 17, 2009, provided a wide range of changes in the field of employee benefits. My partner Jeff Perlmuter provides a Q&A on the COBRA Premium Subsidy in this article and proceeds to outline various benefits changes in this companion alert.
Project Focus: Third-Sun Rises Over Akron Metro RTA's Innovative Transit Facility.
In January, my colleague Phil Truax, Bob Strickland of Project and Construction Services, Inc., and I presented an in-house seminar on project management at the offices of Third-Sun Solar & Wind Power, Ltd. Soon after, Builders Exchange Magazine featured Third-Sun's work in an article on the Akron Metro RTA's Intermodal Transit Facility. Third-Sun also recently completed the installation of solar panels on the parking garage at Cedar and Lee in Cleveland Heights.
