  App Of The Month
                                     **NEW!**

Here's a wonderful tool for people with hearing impairments. It can be difficult to communicate with someone who doesn't know sign language. This free app called Sorenson BuzzCards allows you to create phrases and questions in flashcard form so that person can read what you are trying to say. Compatible wtih iPhone, iPod, iTouch and iPad OS 3.1.3 or later.

First Class Postage was Raised to .04 (8-1-19-1958)

International Left-Hander's Day (8-13)
Roughly 10-15% of Americans are left handed. 1 in 4 Apollo astronauts were left handed. 3 out of the last 5 presidents have been left handed. You can find all sorts of fun, yet, conflicting, left-handed trivia online. But one thing is for sure, there are quite a few famous left-handers!

The 19th Amendment was Ratified, Granting Women the Right
to Vote (8-18-1920)
The movement for women's rights was elevated to the national level when the 19th Amendment was propsed to Congress in 1878. It took roughly 70 years of suffrage before the Amendment was ratified. Explore Scholastic's lessons, graphics, and historic information on Women's Suffrage.

MLK Gave His Famous "I Have A Dream" Speech (8-28-1963)
