Our monthly newsletter focuses on sharing information, tips, and ideas on everything related to schooling inside the classroom and at home. Each month we'll be featuring resources and information on a variety of topics. We are constantly upating information on our site, and urge you to visit often!

December is filled with a lot of history and social studies topics, in addition to the Winter Holidays of Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanzaa. We encourage you to take some time to click through our site. You never know what wonderful resources you can find to enrich your classroom experience. Let's get started!

Rosa Parks Refuses to Give Up Her Seat - 12/1/1955

A brave woman named Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat in Montgomery, AL setting one example to the beginning of the Civil Rights Movement. Find U.S. History Standards, learn about Rosa Parks and view video lessons on Civil Rights. Learn about how the U.S. confronted Civil Rights Issues.

 

Special Education Day - 12/2
I4C offers a whole section of Exceptional Children resources, including Special Education for the classroom, teachers, and parents. Take advantage of tools on Autism, ADHD, Gifted, and Learning Disorders.

Wear Brown Shoes Day - 12/4
You can't participate in brown shoe day if you don't know your colors! Pre-Kindergartener's can play online color and painting games in our Language Arts resources.  Practice your color matching skills on our Kindergarten interactives page.

 

Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day - 12/7/1941

Meet witnesses, view a timeline of the events leading up to Pearl Harbor, and find a Pearl Harbor teaching guide. Use Primary and Secondary Sources to identify conclusions based on the event.

 

Emily Dickinson's Birthday - 12/10/1830  

Did you know that only 11 of Emily Dickinson's poems were actually published during her lifetime? I4C has multiple Poetry resources throughout our site: Elementary Poetry, Middle/High School Poetry, Poetic Overviews and Poetic Devices, Poetic Terms, Analyzing Poetry, and Rhyme and Rhythm, including Lower School Rhyming.

 

National Cocoa Day - 12/13

Continue the sugar high from Halloween and celebrate Cocoa Day! We have chocolate recipes and projects for the classroom as well as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory lesson plans.

 

Bill of Rights Anniversary - 12/15/1791

How would your life be without the Bill of Rights? Visit our 8th Grade Social Studies section to find resources on the Bill of Rights and other Governance and Civic Standards.  Learn the purpose of our Bill of Rights.

 

Boston Tea Party Occurred - 12/16/1773

Today we have Occupy Wallstreet. Back then we had staged Tea Parties, which by the way you can still buy Boston Harbour Tea. Check out our resources and lesson plans on the events leading up to the American Revolution, including the Boston Tea Party.

First Day of Winter - 12/22

Don't Forget: Free Online Practice for ACT Test and SAT Test Resources .  I4C now offers free SAT and ACT vocabulary and math quizzes . Become a free member and log in as much as you'd like. Students can take practice tests on 5000 vocabulary words.Take daily practice math quizzes on over 1000 questions.  Log in to monitor your students' scores - including seeing which vocabulary words or math questions they missed. Interactive quizzes allow the test taker to retake and study as much as they want.

It's National Cocoa Day Dec. 13th. We all have Halloween candy still floating around the house. Celebrate with these chocolate projects, online games, and lessons.
