Our monthly newsletter focuses on sharing information, tips, and ideas on everything related to schooling inside the classroom and at home. Each month we'll be featuring resources and information on a variety of topics. We are constantly upating information on our site, and urge you to visit often!

  Things To Celebrate This Month
November brings Fall traditions and the Thanksgiving holiday. We also celebrate American Indian Heritage Month, Daylight Savings, Veteran's Day, and Author's Day. We encourage you to take some time to click through our site. You never know what wonderful resources you can find to enrich your classroom experience. Let's get started!

 

American Indian Heritage Month
Learn about the ancestry, art, traditions, celebrations, and stories of native women's dress and designers. Explore the Library of Congress' teachers guide through Native American Heritage. Find lesson plans on Native American Cultures across the U.S. And the National Museum of the American Indian features an online educational gallery called Native Words Native Warriors, which includes text, lesson plans, and photos.

Family Stories Month and National Author's Day - Nov 1 
Turn your students into authors with these writing tools and writing prompts. Then make your own books. Find Elementary Language Arts resources with these authors and stories. Learn and practice Author's Purpose. I4C has Interactive Language Arts Skill Builders online games for 4th grade language, 5th grade language, and 6th grade language.

 

National Sandwich Day - Nov 3

Are you bored with the same old lunch every day? Take this sandwich quiz.  Get creative by building sandwiches on sticks, or cut them into shapesMake your own sandwich with these recipe ideas from Kraft.

 

Daylight Savings Ends - Nov 6

Don't forget to turn your clocks back! Practice telling time with these online games while you gain that one hour of sleep on Sunday.

 

Sesame Street Debuted - Nov 10, 1969

Sesame Street has been educating children for years and years. I4C has found great resources there. Find Pre-K Sorting games and  Kindergarten Sorting with Elmo.  Practice Patterns with Cookie Monster. Get Kindergarten Earth Science help with the weather by dressing Elmo for Fall. Play this Life Science game learning how parts make up a whole.

 

Veteran's Day - Nov 11

World Kindness Day - Nov 13

Celebrate World Kindness and continue our anti-bullying message. Find Kindness lesson plans by grade, community ideas, service projects, and activities.

Internet4Classrooms offers a wide variety of informative online resources, tips, tools, and tutorials regarding your classroom needs. There is always something you can utilize with your students. Each month we'll feature a few links to useful topics.  
 

It's National Author's Day and Veterans Day this month. Celebrate both by writing letters to our troops. The first 3 links will tell you how you can organize and get the letters mailed appropriately. Show them how much we care!

 

Explain Gratitude and why we should give thanks this month. Make a wall of thanks. Keep a "jar of thanks" in your class to read daily. Use this printable writing prompt to complete an essay on "What I'm Thankful For." Find Early Childhood giving thanks lessons as well.

 

Did you know that a pumpkin is really a squash? Halloween is over but Thanksgiving is almost here! Find Thanksgiving  activities, printables, and projects for your classrooms.

The Presidential election is still a ways away, but the debates and discussions are in full swing. Take advantage and teach your students about voting and democracy with these lesson plans:

Create an election bulletin board for grades K - 2. Discuss home towns and households, and how democracies impact our lives for Grades 3-5. Learn about voting barriers for Grades 6-8. Encourage creative expressions and civic engagements for Grades 9-12.

Interactive quizzes allow the test taker to retake and study as much as they want.

In keeping with a gratitude theme this month, show your Early Childhood-aged children how to give thanks. Keep a "jar of thanks" on the counter to read at dinner time. Make a family hand tree for every member. For older kids, here's a printable "What I'm Thankful For" writing prompt.

Of course we have Thanksgiving crafts, activities, and recipes to get your homes ready for the holiday.
