This announcement is to let you know that Pastor Ken and Sherie are trying to recruit a tour of the Holy Land for the Fall of next year. We are contemplating extending the typical tour of ten days to fourteen. This would result in a 50% increase in the actual number of days you spend touring the sites, while only adding a few hundred dollars to the over all total for the trip. If you are interested in seeing Israel, we would love to have you join us. The approximate cost will be $4,000 including air fare, hotel rooms (double occupancy), breakfast and dinner every day, all entrance fees and tips, and some money for personal purchases (lunches and things to bring home). The date is not set yet, but you would need to begin making payments on your total trip early in 2010. We hope at least 25 of you will sign up and invite a friend to go with you. Forty would put us on a nice big touring bus over there. You will never read your Bible the same again. Just ask someone who has been there!

Missions of Hope
This month's mission's letter has a very local flavor. During the last full week of March, Dan Meyer, Norm Hansing, and I took a trip to the JAARS campus in Waxhaw, N. C. There we worked with a dozen other men in roofing apartment buildings. JAARS is a nonprofit organization committed to speeding Bible translation for all people. They provide technical support services and resources to Wycliffe Bible. Retired missionaries live in these apartments, who had spent their working years translating the Bible into foreign languages. They lived with the people, learned their language, and at times created a written form of the language prior to translating the Bible. JAARS provides for the upkeep of the apartments through their staff plus we volunteers who showed up from all over the country. We enjoyed serving as "weekend contractors". It only took a short time to realize the gift of a new roof was very much appreciated by the elderly missionaries and for our part it was given with joy. It was a privilege getting better acquainted with these two men from our congregation and a delight working with a crew of godly men whose hearts were in service. Thank you for your prayers throughout that week. Marshall Newhouse

Resource Center News We are grateful for your patience and understanding as we transition to the new software. We are hoping to start using the barcode scanner sometime soon - which will make so many things easier (and fun)! Please remember that the Resource Center is only available when a Library Aide is on duty (before and after the 2nd service). Please do not enter the library unless you have been trained to use the new software. If you would like to open the up the Resource Center during the week (i.e. before or after Bible studies), please contact Shannon Nordgren for training. We would like to train a few more people as Library Aides (or substitutes.) If you are interested in volunteering in the Resource Center, please contact Shannon Nordgren at (815) 494-9470 or hefclibrary@gmail.com. Thanks!

Senior Saints Luncheon May 12 at Noon - The Pastoral Staff is GRILLIN' hamburgers, hot dogs and brats for the seniors meal on Tuesday, May 12th at Noon. Pastor Ken will be giving a devotional - "He Knows MY Name, Does He know YOURS?" and will sing a "new" song based on John 10 entitled "He Knows My Name" by Tommy Walker (1996) - #57 in the top 100 songs in the USA churches. Levon Kline will be presenting the program with Pastor Ken - seeing if we can guess the titles to some songs and then have a sing-a-long of some familiar songs. Call Betty Alexander (815-623-2336) to make your reservation and when you call be prepared to tell her which meat you would prefer.

Biblical Virtue to Pray for our Kids - This month let's pray that our children will grow in prayerfulness. "Grant, Lord, that my children's lives may be marked by prayerfulness, that they may learn to pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests." (Ephesians 6:18)
NurseryThank you to everyone who helped in the nurseries on Easter Sunday! We are blessed to have so many willing and cheerful volunteers. Thank you to those who donated the ride on toys! The kids are happy!
Preschool Summer teachers are needed for the 10:30 hour. This is a good time to "try out" teaching preschoolers and see if it is for you without making a long term commitment. Call Vera Juhlin at 623-6545 or Anne Wagner at 623-8694.
Elementary We're gearing up for Summer Sunday School and still need a few more people to help with teaching and leading the K-5th graders at the 9:00 hour
VBS We're pleased to welcome Sarah Haggerty to the leadership team for the SonRock Kids Camp VBS July 13-17. If you haven't already signed up to help at VBS do so soon! We will start registering kids in June and the major factor limiting how many kids we can minister to is how many volunteers we have.
