Crises and Crunch Time

 Water Emergency Photo

When a company faces a crisis or sudden deadline, it needs to obtain critical services to address the issue quickly and with complete confidence that all aspects of the crisis have been addressed. In the case of environmental laboratory analyses, it is imperative that results are obtained quickly and that the data are reliable and supportable. The public health and the environment are often at stake. Over the past few weeks, ESB's ability to provide such critical services to our clients has been challenged - and we are pleased to say that the ESB team stepped up to the plate and performed with great success!

Coordination

Following an unexpected spill, ESB was called to handle an emergency soil contamination project. After initial discussions with the client, project manager Justin Troup and the rest of the ESB team prepared for the arrival of the samples. "What ESB did most efficiently for this particular project was coordinating the delivery of sampling containers to the project site as well as getting the entire staff updated and informed as to what the requirements of this project were going to be," explained Troup. "Upon arrival of the samples, every department knew what their respective duties were with regard to the handling and analyzing of these samples. In the end, the client was very thankful for our ability to accommodate the volume of samples we received on such short notice." (click here for full article)

Employee Spotlight On...Robin Glenney

 Robin Glenney, Project Manager

Robin Glenney joined the Babcock team in 2007 as a Sample Receiving Assistant and soon after became one of ESB's helpful Project Managers. Robin has a Bachelors of Science in Marine Biology and Biology with an option in Zoology from California State University Long Beach. Prior to coming to Babcock's, Robin was an Education Specialist at Sea World Adventure Parks and a Wine Club Coordinator at a local winery. ESB Green Tip

'We all like to decorate our Christmas trees and the exterior of the house with hundreds of those little twinkling lights and you don't have to stop doing that to go green. However, you Christmas Treedo need to replace those traditional strings of holiday lights with the newest kid on the block - LED (light emitting diode) strings of lights.

They use up to 90% less energy than traditional incandescent Christmas lights. Beyond the decrease in energy usage, these LED lights produce very little heat which significantly reduces the risk of fire and they last about 10 times longer than traditional lights (about 200,000 hours).
