E. S. Babcock Laboratories Receives ACIL Seal of Excellence Award
In light of the economic downturn California has been facing, many small Southern California businesses have struggled to stay afloat. Small businesses have the difficult task of competing with their corporate counterparts while facing cautious consumers worried about spending. In times like these, it becomes imperative that businesses deliver the highest quality services and products while providing exceptional customer service. "So many of our clients are under such tight budgetary pressure, it is our obligation to provide anything we can to make their lives easier," commented Allison Mackenzie, CEO/CFO of E. S. Babcock Laboratories. "Everyone agrees that the small businesses that will survive through the tough economic times and the slow recovery process are those that provide customer service and a quality product," continued Ms. Mackenzie, "These days, people don't have any money to spare so they aren't going to support small businesses that cut corners." ESB Lab Tip - Sample Containers
To help ensure accuracy of your results, it is important to use the correct containers when taking your samples. Some analyses require plastic bottles and some require glass. For example, when sampling for Oil & Grease you must use a glass container. Oils and greases may stick to the walls of a plastic bottle and this may in turn affect your results. It is also important to know if your analysis requires a sterile container. When taking a sample for bacterial analysis you must use a sterile bottle. Using a container that is not sterile may introduce bacteria into your sample. Please refer to our Sample Containers and Holding Time document or our list of commonly used bottles for more information. If you have any questions, feel free to contact your Project Manager.

ESB Green Tip
Thanksgiving is a time for family, gratitude, and delicious food. If your Thanksgiving celebrations include a wonderful meal, chances are you may be taking leftovers to work. A simple trick to stay green this holiday season is to take those leftovers to work in reusable containers such as Tupperware. Reusable utensils such as forks and plates from home will also help to keep things green. Cutting out the foil and the plastic bags cuts down on waste and keeps your pocketbook happy!
To put the final green touch on this wonderful Thanksgiving leftovers meal, carry your lunch to work in a reusable bag. Converting a shopping bag into your designated lunch bag is a great way to cut down on waste. ESB's CEO/CFO Allison Mackenzie carries her lunch to work in an Aveda hair care bag everyday!
