...are the outstanding results achieved by ESB on the most recent Performance Evaluation (PE) samples tested! PE samples are sent by an independent third party provider twice a year to test the accuracy of our laboratory. Each set of PE's contains numerous analytes that our chemists must be able to correctly identify and quantify. We perform these tests for the drinking water, wastewater, and hazardous materials programs as part of our NELAP commitment to providing the highest quality data. Once again, we are extremely proud of our staff and our results!  Within some very tight acceptance ranges, ESB quantified accurately 311 out of 313 wastewater analytes, 207 out of 210 different drinking water constituents, and 250 out of 252 hazardous materials (soils) components. These impressive results are yet another assurance that we are serious about bringing you unparalleled environmental laboratory services.

Employee Spotlight On . . . Curtis Larsen

Justin

ESB is proud to have Curtis Larsen as a new addition to the ESB family. Curtis attended Chaffey College and was an employee at Cal Poly Pomona before he joined our field team. In his spare time, Curtis enjoys spending time with his daughter and camping. His favorite hobbies involve repairing and building his own vehicles, such as ATVs. Curtis is excited to be on the Babcock team and is proud to offer our clients field sampling services. Don't be afraid to say hello to our newest addition if you see him out in the field!

September's TEAM Event

Filling a Chain of Custody With last month's TEAM event,

"Water Quality Sampling Guidelines & Testing for Bacteria in Water: Everything You Always Wanted to Know (but were afraid to ask!)," selling out three weeks before the meeting, it was clear that September's class would be a success.  Guest speakers Mark Tracy, ESB Field Services Manager, and Carol Kase, ESB Microbiology Manager, discussed important techniques and standard procedures that clients should use when submitting samples to our laboratory. The speakers noted that with these techniques and procedures, our clients can be confident that the data produced is the most accurate and reliable. Thank you to our guest speakers and all our TEAM event attendees!

Our next TEAM Event is tentatively scheduled for January 27th, 2011.  Stay tuned for more details!

ESB Green Tip

Nowadays it seems like everyone is in a "go green" frenzy, but sometimes it can be hard to carry over environmentally friendly habits to the workplace. Here's a tip to help your company do its part for the planet while cutting costs!

Is It Worth the Ink?
Before pressing the print button on your computer, ask yourself if the information could be stored in a word document, jpeg or pdf file instead. Taking the time to decide if a hard copy of the document is necessary can end up saving you paper, which can end up saving the green in our forests and the green in your pocket!  Investing in memory cards and/or flash-drives can offer the same security and reliability as hard copies without the waste and expense of printers and paper!
