Emerging Constituents at a Glance...

Emerging Contaminants PhotoThe Santa Ana Watershed Project Authority's (SAWPA) Emerging Constituents (EC) Workgroup submitted a water quality investigation workplan to the Santa Ana Regional Water Quality Control Board (RWQCB) to characterize selected ECs in surface waters and imported waters for calendar year 2010. The workplan was adopted by the Regional Board in December of 2009. The selected ECs include pharmaceuticals & personal care products (PPCPs),  as well as pesticides, herbicides, and industrial indicators of wastewater origin.  ESB recently hosted a TEAM Event discussing these contaminants and is proud to announce that testing for these constituents will be provided by our laboratory. The 11 compounds are:

ESB Green Tip
Make Your Own All Purpose Cleaner
Choose a bottle that is made from recycled materials, or is recyclable.
Spray Bottle

1. Fill spray bottle halfway with water.

2. Top it off with white distilled vinegar, but leave a little room for the additional ingredients and for shaking.

3. Add 10-14+ drops lemongrass essential oil.

4. Add 2-3 drops of the earth friendly dishwashing liquid.

5. Cap and shake. There should be a thin layer of foamy bubbles at the top - but not too many.

6. Label container clearly. Shake before using and store out of direct sunlight.

And remember, always spot test any cleaner before using.
