Greetings!
| | Copyright 2010 Cookie Kinkead |
This fall, we celebrate the fruits of our labor of love. There is an abundance of energy flowing and so much to share with you. We hope to see you at a program this fall. Gurudev has expressed his joy in receiving birthday greetings and blessings. He relished the celebration in Jamaica with close disciples and friends. A recent Amrit Yoga Connection participant, Jaime Ritter, shares her experience:
Planting Seeds of Transformation... During the two-day workshop, we were exposed to a combination of explanatory lectures, interactive exercises and guided meditations. Inundated with this novel information, I came to several realizations about myself. The most fundamental was the insight that my soul, that wise intuitive spirit that resides on the crest of each breath, is always whispering gently within. Through my conditioning, I learned to tune out this universal frequency. Intellectually, I've known this, yet until yesterday I was never as acutely aware on a physical and emotional level how passively detached from life I have become. I now have the opportunity to investigate and resolve the resistance interfering with the expression of my own vitality.
To some such a revelation may not seem so significant. Although this expedition did not trigger an orgasmic explosion of enlightenment, it did succeed in rooting embryonic seeds of metamorphosis. I have the awareness that if I desire these healing buds to blossom, I must nurture them diligently with practice, patience and perseverance. The choice is up to me: I can allow this potential to remain dormant, or I can transform the knowledge I've absorbed into wisdom, allowing it to permeate my daily existence. Most of my life I've been paralyzed by fear and incapable of cultivating joy. In this moment I choose to embrace this journey called life with love and acceptance. And so it is.
"Relationships are a progressive unfolding of the spirit."
In his new book The Yoga of Relationships, Gurudev explores all facets of relationships as a way of growing with those we love, and as a powerful vehicle for our own self exploration. A New Class of Amrit Yoga Teachers
|
|
How do you get to the point where literally hundreds of
thousands of individuals around the world have been trained as yoga instructors
in the Amrit Method? One person at a
time. And that is why we are proud to
celebrate another graduating class of Level I teachers. All Amrit Teachers, whether they teach
formally or simply use the skills they have learned, continue to share the
light and love of this lineage. Tiffany Parrot was kind enough to share this
photo of herself, Kim, Terez and Marta in their dress whites after September graduation. Tiffany notes: "It was quite a journey... and
now the journey continues! As
always..amazing people and an outpouring of love and encouragement."

Quantum Breath Meditation, Powerful and Simple
| | |
In his second year at Shambhala
Mountain Center in Colorado, Gurudev taught the Quantum Breath Meditation
technique to a group of more than fifty participants. Here
are a few of the sharings that may reflect your own
experiences with Gurudev.
I experienced meditation for the first time. I learned new ways to breathe and use my
breath to change. I could not get to sleep the first night so I did the ujjayi
breathing technique and felt my body relax and my mind release. In the past when I tried to meditate it
seemed like a pointless waste of time. Your
explanation and guidance have been amazing. Sally Schneebeck
I have always wanted to experience meditation. There has been a constant force when trying
to achieve, trying to obtain a result, trying to find the answer. What I realized this weekend is that all the
answers are within me. God placed them
there. And meditation is easily achieved
with Gurudev's simple technique. His
presence and energy and devotion and wisdom from above is so real. There are
no words to explain it. My confusions
about spiritual practice and who and what I should be practicing under and
about became untangled this weekend. An
instruction to stop trying to find it outside myself. Bronwen Foster

Gurudev Brings the Message of Yoga to Health and Ayurveda Conferences
| |

Gurudev was a speaker and honored guest this fall at the Friends of Gujarat celebration of 50 years of the state of Gujarat, Gurudev's birthplace and the birthplace of numerous other visionaries, including Mohandas Ghandi. Gurudev also spoke at the Hindu University of America Total Health Conference in Orlando and the Association of Ayurvedic Professionals of North America (AAPNA) national conference in Miami. Gurudev received the Patanjali Award for Excellence in Yogic Teachings and Research in North America from Dr. Shekar Annambhotla, President and Founder of AAPNA. These gatherings included many respected scientists, doctors, and teachers presenting their research on the benefits of Ayurveda and Yoga. All were inspired to receive Gurudev's message and insights into the combination of Yoga and Ayurveda for healing and transformation. Gurudev was excited to learn that his own inner knowing is substantiated in recent studies. It seems that once again the doors between the sister sciences of Yoga and Ayurveda are opening as modern science recognizes the potency of these practices.

The Urge to Merge (from the new book The Yoga of Relationships)
| |
By Gurudev

Love is the elixir of life, the nectar that nurtures every level of our body and being. Our inborn, evolutionary urge to merge compels us to search for love and the promise of completion it brings. We seek love in its myriad forms and in every expression of life, craving the experience of ecstatic union, where the walls that separate us from others dissolve into oneness.
With our first breath in, we arrive in this life pure and without attachments, yet it is an existence devoid of consciousness. As infants, we live purely in the moment, delighting in our own toes and giggling at whoever shows us affection. In these early years, our demands are purely biological. When we are hungry, we cry and are fed. When we are wet, we get irritable and our clothes are changed. When we are tired, we get restless and are tucked into bed. At this stage, closeness to our mother is not personal affection, but an instinctual bonding for the fulfillment of basic needs and the preservation of life.

Is the way you spend your money reflective of your deepest priorities and your desire to serve your Higher Self?
Money is a carrier of intention.Amrit Mala is an opportunity to transform your relationship with money by consciously allocating $1/day toward your integrative intention. You will be surprised at the power of this simple commitment - and inspired to discover that you can afford to give $1/day to feed the vehicle for these teachings that have fed and nourished you. Intention is the shaping force of your reality. This has been investigated by seekers and mystics for thousands of years and now is being proven by Western science.
