Greetings MULYP Family,

 

Being the Membership Chair, it would be remiss if I didn't inform you of some exceptional events coming up!

For starters we have the MUL Black & White Ball, the MULYP Dr. Wesley L. Scott Scholarship Luncheon, and the National Urban League Conference in Chicago all right around the corner! I plan to be in attendance at each event because they are all are extremely important to the Movement of the organization. And I'd like to provide you with an overview of why you should attend each one.

• The Black and White Ball is the Milwaukee Urban League's annual fundraiser. Without the affiliate going strong, there is no YP Chapter, no Guild chapter, and more importantly no GED program, additional job training and development programs provided by the Urban League to those in the community who wouldn't receive it otherwise

• Those of you that supported the Dating Game will be able to see where your hard earned dollars go, as they are transformed into scholarships at our luncheon. Those gifted students deserve a well attended luncheon by the Milwaukee Urban League Young Professionals members applauding, and recognizing them on their academic accolades.

• The National Urban League Conference this year is centered around the YP's as the National Urban League Young Professionals celebrate its 10th anniversary. Being that our chapter is one of nation's founding YP chapters, and the conference is in our sister city Chicago, it should be well attended by our delegation. The newly designed conference page on the National Urban League's website is truly remarkable, and provides an in-depth breakdown of the conference schedule, speakers and performers. This is definitely an event not worth missing!
