OWL Welcomes Bobbie Brinegar as Executive Director
Washington, DC -
OWL - The Voice of Midlife and Older Women is pleased to announce that Bobbie
Ann Brinegar is joining the organization as Executive Director. OWL is the only
national organization that focuses exclusively on the issues facing the more
than 70 million women age 40 and above. Founded in 1980, OWL works to improve
women's financial security, to ensure access to high-quality, affordable health
care, and to preserve independence and dignity throughout their lives. OWL is a
non-profit and non-partisan organization and accomplishes its work through
research, education and advocacy activities conducted both in Washington and
through a growing nationwide chapter network.
Bobbie brings to
OWL a strong background in membership organizations, including faith-based
groups, political campaigns and in the health care and mental health arena.
She is an experienced issue advocate who led efforts to reform voting
systems and improve election procedures for a leading national voting integrity
organization and has extensive experience working with the US Senate, US House
and executive branch.
Further important
to OWL is Bobbie's background in program development and fundraising.
Her successes include
developing a strategic plan to raise more than $10 million to build a new
School of Nursing at the University of Miami and raised nearly $1 million to
support a combined counseling and recreational youth program for victims of Hurricane
Andrew. Her ability to develop relationships and build support for OWL
projects and initiatives will be a tremendous resource.
Through her
previous work, Bobbie has practical experience with organizational development,
strategic planning, building public-private partnerships and working with women
to make change happen. As a committed supporter of community-based groups
such as the YWCA and the League of Women Voters, and a policy and government
relations expert, Brinegar will bring a unique and valuable perspective to
promoting OWL's mission.
"Brinegar's skills
in membership and program development, fundraising and with campaigns will be
an asset for OWL. Her creativity and practical approach will help OWL
continue to expand," stated Donna L. Wagner, OWL Board President. "Bobbie is
dedicated to working at the local level to achieve federal policy goals, which
is an important principle to OWL and its members."
Bobbie received her
MSW at Barry University and her B.A. at Florida International.
