Dear Subscriber,
Greetings! This a special edition of "Morris County Connections" featuring information related to the Halloween storm that hit over the weekend.
In the interest of public safety, a number of Morris County towns have postponed trick or treating. Morris County's Office of Emergency Management has a list as reported to us by our towns. If your town has not postponed, please remember that downed lines can be live even if they are not sparking. They're hard to see at night and can become live when power is restored to an area. Broken tree branches may not have fallen and pose a danger as well. Use extreme caution if you do decide to trick or treat tonight.
The MorrisOEM.org blog has information on shelters, warming stations and charging stations. Again, this is information that has been reported to us by our towns or has been released by them via official online communications.
There are several ways to receive our emergency notifications. Visit us at Twitter.com/MCUrgent or Facebook.com/MCUrgent. If you'd like to receive messages on your text-enabled phone, you can send the text message "Follow MCUrgent" (without the quotes) to 40404.
We've also added an e-newsletter choice for "Emergency Updates". If you'd like to receive major emergency notices (those affecting multiple towns throughout Morris County), please update your newsletter choices. Click the "Update Profile" link at the bottom left corner of this newsletter, log in and add "Emergency Updates."
If you have any comments about this special edition, please e-mail them to public information officer Joe Garifo.
