Ciao Down! Brunch at Mia Francesca
Force of Habit ... Biting your nails, chewing loudly (says who?), and picking the same loser of a boyfriend. And when it comes to picking a brunch spot ... let's just say it's typically the ritual of the habitual as we migrate to the same old breakfast bar. Every once in a while, however, something new comes along that snaps you out of your routine. For us, it was the new Saturday and Sunday brunch at Mia Francesca Trattoria in Midtown (North Hills, Raleigh). Located adjacent to The Renaissance Hotel, Mia Francesca's lunch and dinner menu features the zesty cuisine of Rome, Tuscany, Umbria, and Lazio. Their new brunch menu also kicks breakfast enjoyment up several flavor notches ... and that's even before the $1 Mimosas and $1 Bellinis are served.
Familiar Fare with Flair: This well kept secret won't last long. Mia Francesca just started serving Saturday and Sunday brunch from 10am - 3pm. The early start time is great for those with full schedules and no time to wait for the typical 11:30am start time. Inside, the atmosphere is comfortable rustic with plenty of seating and an extremely helpful wait staff. Covered patio seating is also available.
Don't let the menu's Italian titles intimidate you; the descriptions will bring you back into focus. You'll spot your traditional favorites (eggs Benedict, French toast, pancakes, breakfast sampler, etc). What's unexpected is how the chefs at Mia Francesca have turned traditional breakfast fare into a gourmet treat without straying too far from the familiar. For example, their most popular item, Arancini Benedict, serves the soft poached eggs with crispy risotto, sundried tomato basil hollandaise, and prosciutto di parma. The combination is exquisite! The Pane e Bourbon is their signature French toast with home-made challah bread soaked in bourbon vanilla bean batter and grilled, candied walnuts, maple whipped cream, and warm strawberry balsamic capote. Their menu will tantalize and entice you to return next weekend. Entre prices range from $6 to $13. Click Here for Brunch Menu.
Not too late for Easter Brunch: For all you procrastinators, Mia Francesca is still taking reservations for Easter Brunch. The chefs will be out on the floor preparing their signature dishes as well as manning meat carving and omelette stations. The $1 Mimosas, $1 Bellinis and Italian Sangria ($5 per glass / $25 pitcher) enhance the festivities. The price for this all-you-can-eat buffet is $20.99 for adults; $10.99 for children.
So check out Brunch at Mia Francesca Trattoria ... but be warned... It could be habit forming! Location: 4100 Main at North Hills (adjacent to The Renaissance Hotel). Contact: 919.278.1525, Raleigh Website. Open daily and late nights. Reservations taken and walk-ins welcome. Elegant, private dining rooms are available for special occasions.

The Beltline Buzz items are selected by our editors. No one can pay to be featured on The Beltline Buzz.. That's what advertising is for, and it's always labeled as such. Selling ourselves (literally) would destroy the legitimacy, integrity, and fun of The Beltline Buzz. Plus, we'd never earn your trust that way. So we'll never make a dime off your meal at a restaurant nor a penny from the sale of the latest accessory we told you about.
That said, on occasion, we will send out "Dedicated" e-mails on behalf of sponsors. You'll recognize them from the subject line: "The Beltline Buzz Dedicated E-mail." Yes, these are paid for. And, no, we would never sell our subscriber list to anyone. Not for any amount of money. We hope that you continue to enjoy your Beltline Buzz. We look forward to delivering it.
