Take-N-Bake - Papa Murphy's Pizza
"A pizzeria where you make your own pizza pie" explained Cosmo Kramer (Seinfeld) about his newest enterprise. But, there was a disagreement with Poppie as to whether a pizza becomes a pizza when it comes out of the oven, or when you first start to make it. Well, according to "Papa" (as in Papa Murphy's Take-N-Bake Pizza), it's the latter and this #1 consumer-rated pizza chain has startied a revolution. It now has 5 stores in the Triangle: 2 in Cary, Apex, Wake Forest, and now in Raleigh at The Shops at Oberlin Court (near Gigi's Cupcakes). Papa Murphy's Pizzas are "Handmade Fresh - Home Baked Great - Always a Good Value".
Get A Pizza This! Ok, here's the deal. Papa Murphy's Pizza prepares uncooked pizzas for you to take home and bake in your own oven ... NOT the frozen frisbies you buy in the grocery store but hand kneaded fresh dough, sauces, and toppings prepared before your eyes and placed on their exclusive Bake-and-Serve Tray. You custom pick your ingredients and crust or select one of their Signature & Gourmet, Thin Crust deLITE, or Stuffed pizza selections. All toppings are sliced, chopped, and grated (cheese) fresh in the store to ensure peak flavor. Side items include cheesy bread, prepared and custom salads, lasagna, calzones, and even chocolate chip cookie dough. You're assignment is to bake immediately (or refrigerate and bake within 24 hours). Now that's fresh! Menu
Takeout - No Delivery: Open daily 11am-9pm, Papa Murphy's Pizza is a convenient stop on your way home from work or during daily errands. Prices are comparable (low) relative to traditional pizza chains but the product is restaurant quality. One look, one taste and you'll know the difference. Service is quick as we were in and out in about 10 minutes. Of course, you may take longer deciding among all the choices. You can also call ahead and avoid waiting in line. Once home, the typical oven baking time is 12-15 minutes and the Bake-N-Serve Tray cooks the crust properly and keeps the mess out of the oven. Limited Cleanup! They also sell pizza cutters so you can slice and serve your masterpiece like a pro.
Papa Murphy's Take-N-Bake Pizza: Raleigh (1028 Oberlin Road - 919.322.0344); Cary (3639 SW Cary Pkwy - 919.462.6364, 161 SE Cary Pkwy - 919.249.4949); Wake Forest - 11721 Retail Drive - 919.554.9977); Website, Online Coupons (more at stores)

To Bee or Not to Bee
Class Art - Wine and Design's New Raleigh Location
It seems impossible for an art instructor to teach a bunch of wine-os how to create an impressive masterpiece while they continue to party, sip wine or beer, snack on appetizers, socialize with friends while listening to fun hip music for two hours. Back in the day... that would be considered an out-of-control class taking advantage of a substitute teacher. But, not at Wine and Design!
Wine and Design is a unique art studio that provides everything you need for a fun creative night out including apron, paint, 16 x 20 canvas, brushes, corkscrew, cups, ice and instructor. You bring your beverage of choice (and snack if preferred) and your creativity. You'll follow along with a local artist who will give you stroke-by-stroke instructions on how to paint your chosen art piece. At the end of the night, you go home with your handmade masterpiece, along with lots of great memories to share.
Only Two Rules to Follow: Wine and Design won't stress you out with any "golden rules"... just follow these two for success. Rule #1: You must have fun! And Rule #2: Don't dip your paint brush in your cup of wine.
FAQ: How does it work? Go to the Wine and Design website and choose the desired painting and sign up for the appropriate night on their Calendar. Got friends? Then tell them about it and bring your group. Want to make more friends? Wine and Design is the perfect place to meet people without feeling uncomfortable or intimidated. No experience in painting? No problem, their local artists will guide you step-by-step. Their paintings are suitable for the first-time painter or for more experienced artists.
New location only 3 doors down at 219 Bickett Blvd: Now Wine and Design has better space to host parties and classes. Their back patio is great for cocktails, BBQ's and much more overlooking downtown Raleigh's skyline. They'll allow you to bring your own caterer.
Having your private party at Wine and Design is a unique, fun way for your guests to relax and share in a common experience. Painting is fun, calming, and helps enhance communication. They'll provide materials, you bring the guests and the beverages. No planning, no cleanup, no sky-high restaurant bill! You'll all leave with a beautiful reminder of a fun night out. Whatever the group you're getting together, for whatever occasion, Wine and Design will make your party stress free and fun...so you can enjoy it, too!
So what are you waiting for? Uncork your creativity, BYOB, wine or beverage of choice and enjoy an unforgettable evening filled with friends, fun, and fabulous art!

The Beltline Buzz items are selected by our editors. No one can pay to be featured on The Beltline Buzz.. That's what advertising is for, and it's always labeled as such. Selling ourselves (literally) would destroy the legitimacy, integrity, and fun of The Beltline Buzz. Plus, we'd never earn your trust that way. So we'll never make a dime off your meal at a restaurant nor a penny from the sale of the latest accessory we told you about.
That said, on occasion, we will send out "Dedicated" e-mails on behalf of sponsors. You'll recognize them from the subject line: "The Beltline Buzz Dedicated E-mail." Yes, these are paid for. And, no, we would never sell our subscriber list to anyone. Not for any amount of money. We hope that you continue to enjoy your Beltline Buzz. We look forward to delivering it.
