Top of the Hops - Tyler's Restaurant & Taproom Opens at Seaboard Station

Why the long face, bub? You're usually so hoppy go lucky. Don't you know that Tyler's Restaurant & Taproom is NOW OPEN at Seaboard Station in Raleigh?  Yes, the famous Tyler's (started in Carrboro with other locations Tyler's at Seaboard Stationin Apex and Durham) now occupies a 10,500 square foot space and features Tyler's signature menu, full bar with over 80 specialty beers on tap, casual warehouse atmosphere and an outdoor deck and bar with seating for 50 overlooking Peace Street and the State Capitol complex.  Opening soon will be an adjacent Bottle Shop!

New Beer's Revolution:  Tired of drinking the "nationals"?  Well, craft beers have gone through a fast-paced evolution and NC now has around 40 breweries and brewpubs. Tyler's (opened in 1998) was one of the first to showcase local and regional microbrews and its walls are adorned withTylers their logos.  The beer menu is organized and descriptive (including a section dedicated to NC brews) and the friendly wait staff is quick to bring you samples to try before buy.  They even have tap tables (you reserve 2 types of beer) where you pour your own.  Also novel is that your beer is served in the signature glass from the brewery.

More Than Pub Grub:  Tyler Huntington, founder and president, has ensured that his family-friendly menu is more than mere comfort food.  Featuring  "Tyler Traditions" (Tyler's famous Garlic Fries, Chicken Fried Chicken, House Smoked Ribs, and more) the food offerings include daily lunch specials ($8-$9) and seasonal specialties.  The Fried Pickles are mouth watering and a great start to a festive outing.  Our meals (BBQ Plate, Fish Tacos, and Portabella Burger) arrived quickly, were well Fish Tacos at Tyler'sprepared, and very flavorful.  Servings were generous including the sides.  The salads also looked tempting as well as the soups (the Vegetarian Four-Bean Chile offers a tasty way to knock back the cold).

Inside Choice:  Seaboard Station needed a night-life option and Tyler's Taproom clearly fits the bill.  It took over the space originally intended for Red's Beach Music Club (plus additional space vacated by Tookie's) and transformed it into a signature spot suitable for a business-paced lunch or relaxed dinner.  The dcor is fun warehouse, spacious (with pool tables in the back), and surprisingly not overly noisy.  Another great choice for a downtown (inside-the-beltline) adventure.  Enjoy!

Tyler's Restaurant & Taproom: Location:18 Seaboard Avenue. Suite 150 Raleigh; Hours: Lunch (Mon-Sat) 11:00am-5pm, Dinner (Mon-Sat) 5pm-10pm; Brunch (Sun) 11am-3pm, Late Night - Thurs-Sat: 10pm-until...; No Reservations; Website

Eat Your Beans - Videri Chocolate Factory Now Open in the Warehouse District

Bar Code: There's a new "sweet spot" in the Warehouse District in downtown Raleigh.  The Videri Chocolate Factory has opened in the Videri Peppermint Chocolate BarsHistoric Depot Building across from The Pitt on Davie Street (formerly occupied by Ess Lounge).  The owners (former Escazu Chocolates staff) are now in full production turning cocoa beans into multiple varieties of milk and dark chocolate bars.  The many choices include Classic Dark Chocolate (70%), Sea Salt Chocolate (60%), and Pink Peppercorn.  Initial reviews have been cocoa-lossal.

Wine Not?  What's unique about Videri is the ability to mix chocolate with wine.  That's right, wine.  They promote BYOB (bring your own bottle andVideri Chocolate Wine Glasses glass ... or buy one of their chocolate dipped glasses).  Beer is also acceptable.  This is a novel opportunity to satisfy your sweet tooth, kick back and expand your 'ole factory / taste senses at the same time.  And, everyone is welcome to tour the factory to see how it all comes together.  Bon Bon Appetite!

Videri Chocolate Factory: 327 West Davie Street, Raleigh; 919.967.9760; Hours: Thursday - Sunday 11am - 7pm and by appointment.  Everyday tours of the chocolate factory; Website  Like us on Facebook

TheBeltlineBuzz items are selected by our editors.  No one can pay to be featured on TheBeltlineBuzz. That's what advertising is for, and it's always labeled as such. Selling ourselves (literally) would destroy the legitimacy, integrity, and fun of TheBeltlineBuzz. Plus, we'd never earn your trust that way. So we'll never make a dime off your meal at a restaurant nor a penny from the sale of the latest accessory we told you about.

That said, on occasion, we will send out "Dedicated" e-mails on behalf of sponsors. You'll recognize them from the subject line: "TheBeltlineBuzz Dedicated E-mail." Yes, these are paid for.  And, no, we would never sell our subscriber list to anyone. Not for any amount of money.

We hope that you continue to enjoy your BeltlineBuzz. We look forward to delivering it.
