Get to Holiday Giving & Shopping - Cary Academy Holiday Shoppe, Dec. 1-3

hol-i-day (hol'i-da') n. A day on which custom or law dictates a halting of business activity to celebrate. 2. An immensely popular 1982 Madonna song that conjures up images of black-rubber bracelets, rhinestone cuffs, and whatever embarrassing activities you were engaging in "back then." 3. A reason to steer clear of malls, large shopping complexes, and department stores. (If you must, we suggest bringing along some Advil.) 4. A season to give, to get, and please...not to stress out about it!

The Cary Academy Holiday Shoppe is this Thursday, Dec. 1 through Saturday Dec 3, with over 100 unique vendors from Art to Children's clothing & toys, Home Dcor, Specialty Foods, Holiday, to Jewelry and more.  Have fun; get in the spirit. Herewith, a very handy Gift Guide of some favorites you won't want to miss.

Keep ItJourney Lockets! - Journey Lockets is a beautiful jewelry line designed by NC artist, Jocelyn Drye.  These beautiful, timeless, keepsake lockets are a unique and individual personal expression of who you are and where you are in your own life journey.  The lockets are a treasure that may one day be passed down to their daughters & grand-daughters, with the stories of its own life journey.

Bag It! - We love unique handmade crafty stuff. So, when we saw the Haulte Hillary Bagsbag designs from Haute Hilary, we knew they would be a perfect fit and hit at the Holiday Shoppe!  Bags by Haute Hilary are created in Virginia by talented artist, Hilary Martin, who draws upon vintage pattern envelopes. The images from sewing patterns rescued from estate sales and flea markets are used to create these faboo handbags.  Very cute!

Zaytoun InteriorsHold It! - It's always fun and exciting to see what a creative and innovative designer brings to the Holiday Shoppe.  From classic to contemporary, you'll find great gifts and accessories to freshen up your home at the Zaytoun Interiors booth.  Check out the designer fabrics laminated and pressed into decorated trays in a variety of sizes.  And best of all... they are made in the USA!

Ceram-It! - Lisette Hasbun Designs are some of the best ceramics andPottery pottery-ware you'll ever find. The patterns and colors in lemons, avocados, flowers to name a few, come in various sizes of platters, bowls, vases and so much more.  The more you wash them, the more beautiful they become. How's that for durable and fun pottery?

Book It! - Meet Scott Mason author of Tar Heel Traveler by Scott Mason and reporter for WRAL.  A blend of oral history and memoir with a good dose of quirky humor, The Tar Heel Traveler is a celebratory look at the people and places of North Carolina. Scott Mason is the TV reporter-the Tar Heel Traveler-who journeys across North Carolina profiling colorful characters and out-of-the-way places.

Craft It! - The Candy Cottage a soon to be family tradition.  Made of durable, washable, plastic the candyCandy Cottage cottage can be decorated over and over for many years and many occasions.  No baking, just pure enjoyment of decorating with icing and other sweet treats.  Great gifts for grandkids and families!

The Holiday Shoppe is Free and open to the public! This is a non-profit fundraiser, so you save because no sales tax is charged. Proceeds benefit Cary Academy's scholarship fund and community outreach.

Thursday, Dec. 1, 10:00 am - 5:00 pm. Friday, Dec. 2, 10:00 am - 5:00 pm and 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm. Saturday, Dec. 3, 10:00 am - 4:00 pm.  1500 North Harrison Avenue, Cary, 27513. Website

An Inspired Collection - Courtney Bell Jewelry

Jewelry Within Your Clasp; So your brief foray into jewelry design yielded a pile of macaroni necklaces and paper clip earrings ... more suitable for "cheap" Christmas decorations than a night on the town.  Courtney Bell JewelryDon't fret.  For more elegant creations, we've found a local jewelry designer, Courtney Bell, who spins personal inspiration and vintage brooches into signature pieces.  Each is totally unique and individual; no 2 are alike so no one will ever see themselves "walking down the street".

Glamorous and Chic: Taking inspiration from the entrepreneurial designers Miriam Haskell and Coco Chanel, Courtney hand selects each component of the design. She makes each piece of jewelry by hand using pearls, high quality sterling, gold filled and plated components along with seashells.  Fascinated by anything ocean, many of her designs utilize ocean creatures.  Courtney also finds vintage brooches and gives them a new life and purpose...her mantra... "Re-use, Re-cCourtney Bell Jewelryycle, Re-love".  Therefore, almost all of her pieces have some vintage component and all are pieces you will wear for years to come!

December 1 Showcase: Courtney Bell Jewelry is available at Lavender and Lace (new location at High Park, Raleigh) as well as trunk shows and one-on-one studio appointments.  Come see many of her pieces at the Lavender and Lace open house on December 1.  Also, check out her website which showcases many samples of her work.  Bottom line?? You too will be inspired by this unique and chic line of jewelry.

TheBeltlineBuzz items are selected by our editors.  No one can pay to be featured on TheBeltlineBuzz. That's what advertising is for, and it's always labeled as such. Selling ourselves (literally) would destroy the legitimacy, integrity, and fun of TheBeltlineBuzz. Plus, we'd never earn your trust that way. So we'll never make a dime off your meal at a restaurant nor a penny from the sale of the latest accessory we told you about.

That said, on occasion, we will send out "Dedicated" e-mails on behalf of sponsors. You'll recognize them from the subject line: "TheBeltlineBuzz Dedicated E-mail." Yes, these are paid for.  And, no, we would never sell our subscriber list to anyone. Not for any amount of money.

We hope that you continue to enjoy your BeltlineBuzz. We look forward to delivering it.
