Greetings!
It is with great
pleasure that I announce my partnership with Mike Downey and Heritage
Medical.
In July of 1997, acting as National Sales Manager for
Generation II, Mike hired me to represent his corporation throughout New
York City, Long Island, and Westchester.
Now, 11 years later I get to work with Mike once again; not as a
sub-contractor, but as co-owner of the company he founded, Heritage Medical.
This newsletter is intended to keep you informed of current
events within the O&P community, our distributorship, and the manufacturers
we represent. I look forward to working with you again.
Sincerely,

Coding Corner: Confused about KO Coverage?

Code L1845 describes prefab knee orthoses that have double uprights, condylar
pads, and an adjustable flexion and extension joint and provide both medial-lateral
and rotation control. Medial-lateral control of the knee is accomplished by the
solid metal (or similar material) structure of the double uprights. Rotation
control is accomplished by the combination of: (1) solid metal (or similar
material) in the anterior portion of the thigh and calf cuffs and (2) the
condylar pads. These orthoses are designed for patients who are fully
ambulatory.
The only products which may be billed using code L1845 are
those for which a written coding verification has been made by the Statistical
Analysis DME Regional Carrier (SADMERC). The SADMERC has approved L1845 for the following Townsend knee orthoses as of July 1st, 2008. (Want a copy of the letter? Email me.)- Rebel
