Dear BEST Life Media Newsletter Subscriber,
With Valentine's Day coming up this Saturday, many of us are getting ready to treat our loved ones to something special--a gift, some flowers, a nice meal, a trip to the spa, even a deep massage. It's a time of reminding all those we love, not just our sweethearts, how much we really care for them.
In this newsletter, we at BEST Life Media would like to share some tips for enhancing your relationships in this time of love and giving.

The Message of Touch
Communication is central to all relationships. Non-verbal, or visual and tactile cues, are as important as verbal ones in relaying a message of love and caring. In fact, studies
suggest that over 90% of our communication is derived from non-verbal cues.
So to communicate how much you care about someone, use a little non-verbal communication--exchange a healing touch. Through touch you can clearly transmit loving energy to another person.
One soothing way to do this with a close loved one is by rubbing and massaging their abdomen. The abdomen is central to our bodies, both emotionally and physically. Massaging this area can improve our bodies' overall function and vitality. It is also the place mothers rub to sooth their babies, or we naturally rub when we're not feeling well.
Here is one simple way of soothing the abdomen described in the book Home Healing Massage by the Institute of Human Technology, an educational organization in Sedona, Arizona that investigates and develops effective natural care methods.
- While your loved one is lying down on their back, sit next to them and put your hand on their abdomen.
- Synchronize your breathing with theirs.
- Slowly and gently rub their abdomen in a clockwise motion using one or both hands.
- Then with consistent pressure, smooth down from the solar plexus to the lower abdomen.
- Place your hands side by side on their abdomen.
- Push and pull your hands toward and away from you, gently rocking their abdomen. As your loved one relaxes, his or her body will rock from the abdomen all the way up to the neck.
- Then use the heels of your palms to push in a wave-like motion. Avoid rapid movements.
- Starting from the solar plexus, place one hand on the receiver, and vibrate it from side to side all the way down to the lower abdomen.
- Finish by smoothing the abdomen in a clockwise direction.
With this simple act of love, you can become closer to your loved one while reducing their stress, helping them sleep better, and enhancing their mood.

Building Better Relationships: Opening Your Fourth Chakra
Want to create better relationships? The best thing you can do is to create in yourself what you want to see between yourself and others.
How? Our body's energy system gives us an answer. According to Asian medicine, in addition to meridian channels in our body through which energy flows, we also have energy organs that are usually known as chakras. These energy organs influence all aspects of our physical, mental, and emotional health.
When our fourth chakra is full, balanced, and healthy, it emanates a loving, compassionate, and forgiving energy. This energy balances mind and body, logic and emotion, and the real and ideal. It helps us to be objective and unconditional in our love of ourselves and others.
Unfortunately, the heart chakra can become worn easily because it has a strong tendency to absorb everything around it, which isn't always so loving. By actively keeping your fourth chakra clean and clear, you can connect more easily to others. Your love will just pour forth naturally, changing the nature of all of your relationships.
One of the best exercises to open and strengthen your heart chakra is a posture called "Sky Posture". Hold this posture for at least 5 minutes, and then expand the amount of time to 15-20 minutes when you get stronger.
- Stand with your legs shoulder-width apart and your feet parallel to each other.
- Bend your knees slightly and lift your arms toward the sky, with your palms facing upward.
- Keep your wrists flexed and your elbows slightly bent.
- Straighten your back, spine, and chest.
- Breathe naturally, exhaling through your mouth.
