An Unprecedented Opportunity...
President Obama states that we need to use these difficult economic times as an opportunity for learning.
WE AGREE!
Our faith journey often uses times of crisis as opportunities for growth. We are encouraged to use the present challenges to prepare for a vibrant future. AN OPPORTUNITY FOR CHURCHES TO LEAD!
Many people are struggling with family finances and looking for guidance. A Biblical perspective to sort through the challenges and find help to move forward will be welcome. Pastors and church leaders can offer a unique perspective and leadership. Here are a few ideas:
- Reverend Vickie Hadaway of Irving Park UMC in Chicago, preached about it. Read "Our Relationship with Money" , part of a series on Creating a Simple Life. The message suggests four ways we experience financial freedom by living simply in God's grace.
- First UMC Elgin is conducting a family finances seminar, "Freed-up Financial Living", led by Reverend Mona Walker. The six-part series teaches individuals and couples how to take control of their finances rather than being controlled by creditors, the marketplace and the media. Check out this faith-based financial resource that offers the practical tools to develop financial goals and a plan to achieve them.
