Back-To-School
 September means school again. It's an exciting time for parents, children and staff alike at Lund this year.
Lund's School is working with 15 students who are either taking college courses as high school work or are fully enrolled!
Lund was fortunate to have many community helpers this year with school needs! Maple Tree Place gathered new shoes for over 70 children connected with Lund in the New Shoe Shuffle. IBM employees donated over 40 new backpacks and school supplies; it's been great seeing them in use! The Charlotte Congregational Church went to town and sent in over 30 tote bags stuffed with markers, pens, paper, and other essentials for school.
These donations are very important. One parent educator commented that she had 5 boys she had been working with for the longest time who started kindergarten this year. The families did not have the resources for new school supplies. Thanks to all who donated so generously, making the start of a new school year so exciting for the kids! |

Come Be Inspired - Attend an Open House!
Lund Family Center is holding a series of open houses this fall at Glen Road. The Board and Staff hope that you can join us for a one hour open house featuring our gorgeous new space, stories from clients, and to see the ground-breaking work happening in the many programs of Lund. We hope you can join us for one of the following dates:
- September 17, 9:30 AM
- September 24, 7:30 AM
- October 7, 5:30 PM
- October 14, Noon
- November 14, Noon

September is National Drug and Alcohol Addiction Recovery Month
Did you know:
- Vermont has the second highest rate of illegal drug use among 12 to 25 year olds in the U.S. (United States Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration)
- Over 80% of ther women served through Lund's Residential Treatment program have a substance abuse diagnosis
Through Lund's comprehensive programming for pregnant and parenting women and their families, Lund is making a major impact. In the last grant period:
- 100% of the 22 babies born at Lund were born free of illicit substances
- 100% of the babies were born within the normal gestation period
- 100% of the babies were born within the normal birth weight

 The girls depicted in the photo above were among the mini-golfers at our First Annual UPS Mini-Golf Tournament. Thanks to many of you for purchasing raffle tickets, Snowflake Chocolates during the Mother's Day Fudge Sale and coming to get your car washed. With your help, Team UPS-Lund came in second place for the fundraising challenge associated with the UPS Golf Tournament, earning Lund an additional $7000! We also recently received a $10,000 grant from The UPS Foundation. In partnership with UPS Vermont, Lund Family Center raised over $30,000 during the past year. Thank you, UPS! |

One last thing. We get to see so much joy in our work here at Lund, we thought we'd share a bit with you. The following is a coversation that was heard in the Adoption/Business Offices one afternoon:
Mom: We've got to go guys. We have to go get packed. We're going on a trip!
Little boy: where are we going?
Mom: We've got to go pick up your new little brother and sister! |
